What are your favorite places to sit and relax and enjoy the surrounding sights ands sounds? Each year I visit, I find I am less interested in rushing to stand in lines for rides, and more content to leisurely tour and soak up the atmosphere. We love the rocking chairs in Liberty Square at MK! Do you have some great sites? :cloud9:

At MK I like sitting by Casy's. In Epcot anywhere by the water fountain behine SE. In MGM anywhere along Hollywood Blvd(Main Street) As for AK I can't help you there as I don't care for this park so I don't stay very long. I love hanging around the Hotel and taking in the view just to relax.

Hi, Hugpug...Thanks for your quick reply! At AK, if you like a refreshing beverage, the Dawa Bar, next to the Tusker House Restaurant is a nice place to sit and relax, and watch the entertainment!

On our last trip (Aug) I found I very much enjoy hanging out in Canada & United Kingdom! Yup I could take up lots of time going back n forth, back n forth btwn Off Kilter and British Invasion!

I love those rocking chairs too! I waited there while my parents rode the Haunted Mansion and it was so nice to just people watch!

We love Sleepy Hollow at Liberty Square in the MK :thumbsup2

I enjoyed sitting at the little tables by the Bakery on Main Street, first thing in the morning: the cool of the morning, delicious breakfast pastries and coffee and the sound of the Barbershop Quartet. :)

The seating area near the water behind Flame Tree Barbecue in AK is a nice spot. Especially now that you get a great view of Expedition Everest from there. My kids and I sat back there while we had lunch last week and it was great. A few other people made their way back there, but it was fairly peaceful. ::MinnieMo

I really enjoy the little seating area behind the fish and chip stand in the UK pavillion in Epcot. It is by the water with a great view of the park.

We found a great spot in Epcot! DDs were getting worn out on our first full day, so we found an ice cream cart, got some Mickey bars for each of us, and found a bench. The bench was on the path from World Showcase to the old Odyssey restaurant. There are restrooms back there, and sort of a shortcut, but hardly anyone was walking by. We sat and ate (and made a HUGE mess of chocolate) and it was just so quiet to sit and enjoy ourselves there. Its one of my favorite memories of our vacation.

I'm usually one of those "gotta ride it, now now now!" people in our family. But I also really like lazing around the parks, especially if it's our 2nd or 3rd visit to that particular park during the overall WDW trip. We also try to have an R&R day on our trips, so I've got some personal favorite spots in some of the resorts I've stayed / or spent significant amount of time.

In the parks (people-watching mostly):
MK - I like the benches around TTA entry & exit. The rocking chairs in Liberty Square are good too (I think there's some in Frontierland too). Casey's is the place for us on Main Street. The benches near the 'Partners' statue are nice but may be more crowded than you might like.

AK - I like to relax in the Asia section of the park. There's a few benches by the monkey enclosure near the entrance to Kali River Rapids.

Epcot - Just about any bench in World Showcase, in those little areas winding off the main path overlooking the lagoon. My personal faves on the main path are the stone benches in China, the benches opposite the mini train garden in Germany, benches in France, and the benches in the England pavillion. I like to hang out near Test Track and near the fountains outside of "Honey I Shrunk the Audience". Also, (like Hugpug said), the central fountain behind Spaceship Earth is a good place to escape the hustle 'n' bustle for a while.

Studios - The dinosaur counter service has some tables - view of the Sorceror's Hat area, those are cool. The benches along Sunset Blvd. are nice, but they're usually in the sun. I like to hang out near Star Tours (I'm a Star Wars fan) to watch the kids dodging the AT-AT's water cannons. I also like to hang out by the Muppets fountain - there's always kids playing there.

In the resorts (more quiet / solitude areas):
Beach Club & Boardwalk - I like to grab a bench overlooking the lagoon and the Boardwalk itself. Any time day / night. At night you can see the Illuminations sky fireworks through the trees. Inside Beach Club, the Solarium & reading room are nice places to read the paper. I'm a night owl, so it's not uncommon for me to be hanging out at 2 or 3 in the morning with a book.

Wilderness Lodge - On the 5th or 6th floor there's a reading alcove overlooking the lobby atrium. Very, very pleasant place for a read or a nap. It's usually unoccupied (unless I'm there), but you can hear the activity down in the lobby. You can study the chimney very well if you're so inclined. This is my absolute favorite 'quiet' spot in all of WDW.

Old Key West - Behind Olivia's restaurant near the pool is a nice place to hang out. There's usually people around, so it's not a very good place to read.

Polynesian - Hang out in the lobby.

Contemporary - Hang out in the lobby. Watch the people heading to Chef Mickey's.

POP - Grab a table by the Hippy Dippy Pool. Grab a beer for me, if you don't mind...

One of our favorite spots! :thumbsup2
also, the small herb garden, across from the R&C, in the UK, behind the shops.
It can be a great treat to bring your York Cty Fish & chips & enjoy.

Our favorite place to relax in MK is on the TTA. We will stay on the ride if it isn't busy. In Epcot, we get a table at the stand outside of Mexico and get a nice cold drink (margarita) and enjoy!

One my very favorite spot to feel the magic in the Magic Kingdom is to sit on the bench, just me and Goofy, in front of Exhition Hall on Main Street. Wishing I could be there right now ... :)

When we went last May, we spent some time relaxing on Tom Sawyer's Island. There are (or were atleast!) rocking chairs by Aunt Polly's. So we bought some yummy desserts and relaxed there for awhile. That was nice! :goodvibes

We also like to relax in the UK at Epcot, back by the hedge maze. Our boys love that maze, so we let them roam while we relax. It's always been pretty empty back there, unless The British Invasion is performing then a crowd gathers.

I'm a fan of the area in front of the Plaza restraunt in MK. You go down a couple steps and there is a area with tables and benches and with a nice view of the castle. Last couple times I was there, it was empty in the middle of the day.

One of my favorites, too! I will also sometimes grab a margarita and go sit inside the mexico pavillion by the fountain, people watch, and enjoy the atmosphere. I love the whole marketplace at night environment. :goodvibes

EPCOT, Ws in particular, is full of places to kick back, relax, and soak up the atmosphere. On our last trip I spent a day at EPCOT by myself why DH stayed back at the resort with the kids at the pool. I was afraid I wouldn't enjoy myself without my family, but I had a wonderful time browsing the shops, eating, drinking, and soaking up the atmosphere.

Thanks, everybody, for the great ideas!! I certainly will be searching them out in April!!...Any more..? :cloud9:

I've got so many favorite places! My absolute fave is probably in Frontierland. It's outside a little store, across from the turkey leg cart, on the raised porch in a rocking chair. There's a big white Egret (I think it is) that frequents that area. Also, sitting outside Fountainview bakery watching the fountain (even if the bakery itself is closed). And in front of Chefs de France on a bench or over by the fountains in France on a bench. In AK, the benches along the Discovery Island Trails are so restful. And I love the tables on the right on the path from Africa to Asia by Flights of Wonder. At MGM, I like to claim a bench right on the main street so I might catch the Streetmosphere characters.
And at OKW at the end of my "big" day, get me a Sultry Seahorse and I can rest in a chair on the walkway by the Ferry.

MK- The rose garden path while waiting for Wishes. The TTA and Railroad are nice too. Cools you off in the summer heat, and gives your feet a much needed break :goodvibes
Epcot- The little landing off of Germany. A great view of Spaceship Earth, and if you have one of those delicious pretzels too..ahhh..heaven!! :cloud9:
MGM- The main entrance way, along the shops. It's nice to see people just entering and looking all excited.
AK- Any of the benches with a frozen lemonade.. :p yumm!
