What is everyone's favorite traditions while at Disney? DBF and I are taking our first trip together in December. Since it's the first of hopefully many, I was trying to come up with traditions that we can do on our future trips and trips once we are married and have kids. I have my own family ones, but I want to come up with some that are new for just him and me.

Any suggestions?

Once every trip, we eat at California Grill with a later reservation time so we can watch Wishes from the observation deck. We did it before kids and we do it with the kids every trip.

Not sure if these are more traditions or how things have just worked out. But we always visit MK as our first park and my DD always rides the carousel first. The carousel just happens to be the first thing you pass one going through the castle and we can't seem to get her by it without riding it.

We always do MK the first full day after breakfast at Chef Mickeys.

When I was a kid, one of our favorite traditions was eating chocolate cake at the Main Street Bakery for breakfast while waiting for the MK to open.

I'm looking forward to creating new traditions when I take ds for his first trip next month.

Favorite traditions from way back....

As soon as we checked in, found our room, we'd switch to our bathing suits, hit the beach and jump into Bay Lake... We always stayed at the Contemporary, north garden wing and swimming in the lakes was okay back then...

Later in life, traditions changed... We'd go to Crocketts Tavern at Fort Wilderness, order pizzas and pitchers of beer in evening to touch off the vacation...

One of our favorite traditions is to make an early morning reservation at the Crystal Palace for breakfast. We always take our picture with the Walt and Mickey statue in a practically empty park. Sometimes the people change but one is always there - MAMA!!

We have certain pics we take every time. We buy a new Christmas ornament for our tree. And we buy a new coffee mug.

We've only been to Disney three times, the last time was this past January and we're going again in October (for Run Disney races) but kinda sad now cause after reading this we don't have any traditions started.

I've heard one family say that the go to the Christmas store in MK and everyone picks out their own ornament and the mom buys, that's cool.

I also like the one about eating at the place in MK late in order to enjoy the fireworks. That's actually in our plans this year so who knows, maybe the tradition will start.

Via Napoli for pizza and Sangria. We also eat at 1 new restaurant each visit (we are running out of places).

We have two traditions that we ALWAYS do beyond the usual restaurants and hotel. We always go during the fall/winter and always make sure to arrive on a party night. Instead of a park ticket for that day, we get a party ticket. It's a great way to start our Disney trip. And we always get a picture of the kids in the fountain between buildings at POFQ. It's fun to see how they change every year. Of course you're not supposed to get in the fountain, but our first year the kids just ran in without asking so we quickly took a picture and then made them get out, and from then on, it's just one of those strange family things we do. It is getting a little sad for us though because our oldest is now in college and he has no interest in going anymore, so the picture is now down to just our two teen daughters, and this year will probably be the last year for our older daughter who will be a senior and high school and most likely won't be going any more after this trip. :(

on the last day, it's always MK, we stay till closing, and stop and say goodbye to the castle,or "until we meet again," we get all choked up and sad to be leaving, but usually i'm already starting to think about next time!

We have several.

We always arrive at our resort (POR) around lunchtime, so we unload the luggage etc, and hop a boat to DTD. We eat a late lunch/early dinner at T-Rex, get a white chocolate mocha from Ghirardelli, and just spend the evening ambling around DTD. Not sure how much fun that will be this year with all the construction in DTD :confused3.

Another tradition is that we always end our trip with Hoop Dee Doo Revue. We used to spend the night quietly in our resort, cleaning up, getting everything packed and ready to leave in the morning. Depressing :rotfl:. So, now we always schedule the early show at HDD. It's a much MUCH better way to spend our last evening. Packing/cleaning can wait, haha!

We go to the Firehouse on Main Street (or you can go to the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square) and "join" the Sorcerers of Mickey's [insert family name here] Team (we made this last part up so we could initiate our growing family). Everyone gets free Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Cards.

Here is a blurb from WDW: "Join Merlin’s elite squadron of apprentice sorcerers at the Firehouse on Main Street, U.S.A. or behind the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square, where you’ll be given all the tools you’ll need to help you on your quest."

Cheers!

My biggest tradition that is one I will do every trip is:
-The last day is either at MK or we park hop everywhere and end at MK, and we leave a little bit of extra time right before we leave to head up to the top of the train station and look out along Main Street just taking it all in and thanking Walt for everything that he created!
