Please give me suggestions on Dining for our Family of 12 who are going for Thanksgiving. Keeping in mind that I do have a nearly 2 year old.
:goodvibes

My family has only been to WDW twice for the T-giving holiday in recent years. The first time we did Chef Mickey's. I made our ressie for 8:30p.m. because we were arriving that afternoon and I didn't want to miss an earlier time due to any unexpected flight issues. We all enjoyed our meal. They had all the traditional fixings which were quite tasty.

We also dined at Boma's at AKL. While many of the offerings are unique...they did have the traditional items. I had a glass of the Fantail Pinotage wine...delish...and the gravy...the best I have ever tasted.

I think both places are suitable for a 2 year old.

Good luck with your decision and have a wonderful Thanksgiving vacation!!!

Before I answered I checked the disney dining reservation website and put in a party of 12 on Thanksgiving for dinner. The options I saw that had availablility BEFORE 8pm (b/c of the 2 yr.old) were:

Boatwright's
Boma
Hollywood and Vine
Hacienda de San Miguel
Nine Dragons
Olivia's Cafe
Restaurant Marrakesh
Shutters
Trail's End
Wolfgang Puck Cafe

There were some others, but they had reservations starting at 8pm on and I thought with the 2 yr. old you would want to eat dinner earlier than that.

Of the above I personally like Boma and I have heard the buffet at Trail's End is very good if yu want more traditional American food (that is where one of the CMs I spoke with about Thanksgiving dinner told me he eats).

I was not sure if you wanted ethnic or more traditional, but you can see what is available at anytime on the WDW website.:thumbsup2

Good luck-maybe we will see you in the parks :)

Of those I would choose Boma myself. We are eating at Raglan Road. Since we are Irish we thought it might be fun.

Enjoy your trip!

I agree with cam&phoebsmom who searched for you. At this point availablity is VERY limited. You need to make an ADR ASAP or you may find there is nothing available at all. These ADR's open 180 days in advance, so folks have been making them for awhile.
Of the choices left, I would go with Trails End at Fort Wilderness. Leave time to explore, it is a fun place.
Good Luck

Liberty Tree Tavern can handle a large party (I've seen it) and they have the traditional turkey dinner. I think it's perfect for Thanksgiving since the CMs are dressed all pilgramy. :) The PPs are right, you should hurry.

Of the options that are available, I'd choose Hacienda if you're looking for a non-traditional Thanksgiving. Who needs pumpkin pie when you can have a margarita? ;)

For a traditional meal, I'd choose Trail's End. I think it would be the perfect atmosphere for a family Holiday meal, and you could enjoy the Ft Wilderness amenities afterwards.

I'm surprised that there was no availability listed for Captain's Grille. We were late scheduling a trip for Thanksgiving 2 years ago, and there were very few reservations available... so I took Capt Grille b/c it had a 6:30 time, and all the others offered much later times, which don't work w/ little kids (I have 2). We didn't have high expectations for dinner, but were pleasantly surprised. It's a buffet with traditional Thanksgiving food, and some more kid-friendly options. This year, we booked way in advance of the 180 days, so we could have chosen anywhere, but we're going back to Capt Grille: decent food, laid back and something for each of us.

As everyone is suggesting, make your reservation soon. Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

. . . I'd choose Trail's End. I think it would be the perfect atmosphere . . .

1) I like to go off-the-main-path, so to speak.
2) We also enjoyed Trail's End for holiday meals.
3) We made it "a day"
. . . strolled FW in the late afternoon
. . . had dinner
. . . attended Chip-n-Dale's Campfire
. . . sat on the beach for fireworks
. . . jammed on the banjo with a few others

I am so happy to read thiswe have resrevation's at Captain's Grill for Thanksgiving dinner around 3:30 for 16 people. I have not seen anybody comment yet on their Thanskgiving buffet. Originally we were trying for Cape May but they did not have availability for our size group, and the CM suggested Captain's Grill. It seems like it will have a nice combination of seafood and Thanksgiving. Glad to read a good report! :thumbsup2
