Hi everyone,
Just wondering about everyone's fave snacks from World Showcase.....I have never done anything except walk around world showcase, never sampled any of the foods and I was just wondering what everyone's must have or fave snacks are from all of the different countries....
Mexico
Norway
Italy
The American Adventure
Japan
Morocco
France
Canada

Would love some input, I am wanting to sample a little something from each country.
Thanks Kristy

well i tried to do that this year but we didn't finish the world showcase
:(
but in norway they had this sweet pretzel which, i think, is called a kringle
this is sa pretzal with icing on top and rasins(sp?) and you can have a choice if you want nuts on with it or not

really i have a sweet tooth so i thought it was nice

We got back from a fabulous 8 day trip on May 10 and I'm already planning our 2007 trip. Sad, but true! I'm missing the Magic tremendously! We were on the Disney Dining Plan and decided to "Snack Around the World", using a combination of our TS, CS, and snacks. We would go to each country and see what their best "sampler" platter seemed to be, either at a CS or a TS and then we would order 1 or 2, depending on the size, for the 4 of us (me, DH, DD9, DDS7) and then all of us taste a little. This worked great, but we were STUFFED by the time we finished! The kids really got a "taste" of the different countries. :rotfl: We also found the CMs to be VERY generous on what was considered a "snack" in the countries, so we got various pastries from the different countries. This was one of the favorite parts of our trip this year! Happy snacking!

By the way, in Canada, there are some candy bars, Nestle I think, that are not sold anywhere else in this country. A guy sitting next to me at Illuminations had one and it looked FABULOUS, so we went and tried it. It's called a Coffee Crunch and it is YUMMY! We bought several!

The schwarma and the tangerine slushies in Morocco are just yummy! Also hummus (but I'm not sure if I got this at Food & Wine Festival or at Morocco's cafe). DS loves the beef kabobs.

Norway is def. the Kringla, no almond slivers. DS loves the worms in dirt.

The American Adventure really doesn't have much that I can't get elsewhere in the US, so I don't bother w/that.

I think we usually do Nachos in Mexico b/c DS isn't that adventurous. I'd love to try something different there, though!

I like the Strawberry tarts and ice cream from France and LOVE the gummy bears in Germany....yummy! :)

Kaki Gori in Japan is an icey treat! It is way better than a snow cone and the flavors are honeydew, strawberry, tangerine or rainbow (a combo!) We are never too full for one of these.

The baklava in Morocco is fabulous. Really rich without being too, too sweet.

The tirmisu in Italy from the dessert cart was yummy too!

Enjoy!

The fruit and cheese plate from the bakery in France is very, very good along with all the other sweets they have in there.

Some other faves of mine:
Norway - School Bread
Japan- Kaki Gori
Germany- Haribo Candies

Funnel cakes with chocolate syrup! WOW! :cloud9: soso good! I ate an entire one practically all by myself. Also, the chocolate mousse in France is to absolutely die for!

School bread from Kringla Bakery og Cafe in Norway, VERY good. I also enjoy the bratwurst at Sommerfest in Germany.

DEFINITELY do not miss the School Bread in Norway. It is so GOOD!I also enjoy the "scenery" in Norway. ;) :) :earsboy:

My family is a huge fan of the Kaki Gori (kind of like a snow cone but a million times better!) in Japan. We always make sure to get them on each trip! I think the rainbow flavor is my particular favorite! :goodvibes

Why hasn't anyone mentioned the Beaver Tails at Canada? They are great!
Marilyn :)

We love the gelato in Italy at the dessert cart. Perfect for a hot day :flower:

I am definitely a fan of the Chocolate Gelato (YUMYUMYUM) in Italy, perfect while watching "Romeo and Edna"

Chocolate mousse in France...though for a long time we had DD12 convinced that the chocolate one was called moose and the vanilla one was called squirrel ;)

Beaver tails were no longer in Canada last time we were there, though I've heard they're coming back.

This is a great thread! As many times as I've been to Epcot I've never really tried the different snacks throughout the worlds. This time we have one day at Epcot that we do not have a PS (due to the big changes at Garden Grill) so we will have to just try a little in each country!

Rice cream in Norway
Anything from the bakery in France
Layered margarita in Mexico
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I think that it is just too painful for everyone who loved the Beaver Tails to even speak of them now that they are no more....that is why I myself didn't mention them in my post....it's just too hard to speak of....I'm choking up right now. :sad2:

P.S. when they DID have Beaver Tails....the one with fried apples was my favorite....yum.

I tried a cheese platter once in a bakery in France. They even gave me a free piece of bread with it! There were like 4 different kinds of cheese and they were delicious! :flower:
