We decided to go a day early to Disney and since we will not be in the parks that day plan on trying a restaurant in another disney resort. We are on the basic DDP and we are travelling with 3 kids (7,4 and 3)

What are some people's favorite resort dinner restaurants?

I loved eating at California Grill for the fireworks. And the food is pretty good too.

Hands down, Kona Cafe. It has consistently great food and good service. (I also like California Grill, but it's more expensive. We eat at Kona at least twice per trip, but CG only once.)

Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary resort for the kids! A nice monorail ride and then a datewith the mouse isn't too shabby. The Clambake at BC is also nice and all you can eat! Ohana's would be nice with lots of food and entertainment for the kids like Coconut races and Hula Dancing and yummy bread pudding! 1900 Park Fare provides a fun Character Meal with the stepsisters being t ruly divine! Beaches and Cream at BC is fun with great food! Boma at AKL gets rave reviews im not an a dventurous eater but if you are that'd be a good one! And last but notleast Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge lots of fun antics and amazing food. Of this longlist Chef Mickey's is a tradition for me so i suggest it and character interaction is great. Whispering Canyon Cafe is also really good... it just depends on your family if you wantleisurely or fun etc!

Wow! . There are many great places to eat at Disney Resorts so here are some of my thoughts/suggestions:

If you want to start the trip off with a fun meal for the kids. . .
- Ohana's at the Polynesian. This is a great family meal that would be a great way to start off the trip!

- Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary- A buffet with Goofy, Chip, Dale, Minnie, Mickey, Donald this would be a super fun good character fun time and EXCELLENT WAY TO START OFF YOUR TRIP. We start off our trip every year here. The buffet has just basic food nothing to special...

Maybe try Kona Cafe located in the Polynesian- My kids, and I really enjoy this meal. The food is excellent, and it is a must do.

Also where will you be staying?

If I were you I would go with any of these because they mostly have a great atmosphere, a great time, good enough food, and an EXCELLENT WAY to start off your trip!

Spirit of Aloha!!! Polyensian
It is 2 table service credits but well worth it!!!!
Great show ds 6 at the time loves it we are doing it day 8 this trip!

I think the kids would love Ohana. The whole family would probably enjoy the Boardwalk area and there are lots of restaurants - ESPN Club, Spoodles, Flying Fish, Big River grille, Beaches & Cream, Yachtsman.:goodvibes

I am also a big fan of the Kona Cafe and the California Grill. In either case, you may be able to time your meal so that you have a good view of fireworks (from the CG or from the nearby beach if you choose Kona) as a bonus. My family enjoys the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the WL also.

Since you are talking about a non-park day, I'd also suggest heading over to FW and having dinner at Trail's End. You can check out the other stuff at the resort (like the horses or hayride), and maybe stay for the campfire after dinner. Trail's End is very reasonable -- if you're looking to do an extra table service during your trip or maybe try a signature restaurant, you might consider paying out of pocket for this dinner and using the credit for something else.

Our two favorite resort restaurants are California Grill & Jiko. One restaurant you and your family may enjoy would be Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge. It's a great place for adults & kids.

narcoosees at GF - the beautiful restaurant itself, the view, the service - but especially the food! - crab cakes, lobster and almond crusted cheesecake!
