My parents are going to either trade or pay for a bonus week in Orlando area Nov 24th- Dec 1st. We need a 2 bedroom that is reasonable and somewhat close to Disney. They have RCI.

We stayed at Cypress Point and Cypress pointe Grandvillas and were happy with them, any other places I should check out? I was hoping to try something new : )

Thanks!
Jenn

Sheraton Vistana Resort is close and basically nice.

Hilton Grand Vacation Club - has 2 - one off of ID and the other across from SW.

love them both!

you can't pay for a bonus week. you can do the final call. if you don't mind waiting until 30 days before you leave.

There are some two bedrooms on getawayweeks.com (that's what you check when you win a "home and away" auction on Skyauction) for that week.

I see Fairfield Cypress Palms and Orbit One. You could probably win an auction for about $50, then with fees that runs you about $270 for the week.

That's how we got our weeks at OO. We have two weeks for $508 total.

the home and away fees seem to be 215$ before you even start to bid, thus winning a home and away would "initially" cost 265$ ( the voucher has to be used on future limited auctions ..ie before october 31 2007 ) IF you can find a home and away that cheap ( 50$ )....they have been going for 60 - 100 recently, definately not as good as they used to be....

two weeks at orbit must include one week won using a certificate ???

First, yes, the fees are $215.

Second, on Aug. 11th there were two auctions that went for $56 and $58. On Aug. 12th, there were another two auctions that went for $58 and $59. You can view them if you click "winners" at the bottom of the page. So that made 4 auctions that went from $271 to $274 just in two days. But yes, they used to go cheaper.

Third, yes, I had $20 in SA cash (from people that registered and gave me credit......you get $5 for each name) and I used the $100 cert. on the first auction towards the second auction, and the other $100 cert. on two Broadway orchestra tickets for my DD and DNiece to see "Phantom of the Opera". Isn't that an awesome deal?

Skyauction isn't as good as it used to be, and unless I can get something far ahead (like when they offer Vistana for all kind of dates at the beginning of the year) I don't think we will use them again. I like to plan ahead too much. :rotfl:

But I am thankful that we got a deal this time. This trip had to be cheap and this deal is making that possible.

OP..........good luck with your decision. I've always wanted to stay at SL. :)

Oh, man, Jenn......it's too bad your date isn't 12-2. SL is coming up on getawayweeks.com for 12-2.

You are going at such a nice time of year. We've gone twice......once T-day and after and once the first week of Dec.. I love all the decorations.

We have stayed twice at Summer Bay Resort, and really liked it! Once was Feb of 2006 we met DH's cousin there for a few days on our way to the keys. We really like it, felt like it had so much for the kids, so we booked our stay there last Aug for after we left POR. We are heading to WDW in 5 days:cool1: and will be staying at POR for one week, then westgate liesure resort. Never stayed there, hoping it is nice!

In terms of amenities on site, I would highly recommend Orange Lake Country Club. They have several pools, some with water slides, a lazy river, tennis courts, basketball courts, mini-golf and several golf courses. This is besides arcades and playgrounds for the kids.

Now that the 429 highway (toll road) is open, you get to Disney World in about 5 minutes.

Enjoy! :)

Also, Another Vote For The Other Property. Never Stayed There, But Looked Around And It Looked Pretty Nice!

I stayed at Orbit One once and we're going there again in October. Very nice, clean, well-decorated and managed resort from what I recall. Very close to Disney - took me less time to get places than it did friends staying at the All Stars. Apparently now they have a water park at another resort you can visit. (My son will love that!)

We also stayed at Silver Lake and had a not-so-nice experience there.

Yes!! I agree 100%. We stayed in a 2br last fall. Bought an Extra Vacation from RCI for only $404 incl. taxes. :woohoo: We're owners at Summer Bay and really enjoy it but have to admit HGVC/SW is nicer and you get a mid-stay cleaning which isn't a deal-breaker but nice to have. Then again, buying @ SB was a fraction of the cost of HGVC. :cool2:
