So my favorite pixie dust stories are the ones where I was the one to make the magic during my College Program.
1. I worked in the ticket booths, so I often had to help guests with Will Call tickets from outside parties. Sometimes, these tickets would get "lost" in the ticket system and it would take a long time (and sometimes some long phone calls to different companies) for me to find them. I remember a few times when this would happen, at the end once they had their tickets I would ask them what attraction they are most excited for and give them an extra fastpass for it. If the kids were especially good while waiting, we'd also give them a pass for some free ice cream. It was always so fun to watch the excitement light their faces up when I did this, knowing that I was able to turn what started out as a bad experience into a magical one.
2. This one doesn't involve anything extra really, but it still felt like pixie dust to me. While the CM next to me was taking care of a family, suddenly the little girl came over to my window and started talking to me. We talked about the park and what she was excited for, and eventually the conversation got to what she wanted to be when she grew up. She told me she wanted to work at Disney World when she got older, specifically Expedition Everest since that was her favorite ride. So before she left my window, I grabbed one of the "I'm Celebrating" buttons and wrote "Future Cast Member" and gave it to her just as her mom was walking over to get her. The little girl was over the moon excited about this extra special button that only she had and just kept thanking me. That was honestly my favorite guest interaction during my entire program - I know I was inspired to do the College Program by talking to CMs during my trips, so I hope that I was able to be that CM for this little girl too.
3. This last one is my version of pixie dust as a cast member - it was an average will call transaction at my window, and I notice that the family has tickets for the After Hours Event the next day, which I had just attended a few weeks before hand. I started talking to the mom about the event and how excited I was for them to get to experience it because it had been such an incredible night for me. I thought nothing of this until weeks later one of my leaders announces to the booth that they had received an email from that guest about how my enthusiasm and excitement for her family was appreciated and the perfect start to their vacation. That was the best pixie dust a guest could have ever given me - knowing that I was in fact bringing the Disney magic that I had gone down to FL to do.
I could keep going for hours with stories like this. Being on the receiving end of pixie dust is always fun, but there is something absolutely incredible to being the person who gets to make that magic for others.
