(I needed to start a thread to distract me from posting on the Cinderella protest thread)

What is your favorite thing to do when you are at DLR besides going on an attraction or watching a show? There are tons of tiny details to appreciate, foods to eat, places to shop, places to discover.

One of my favorite things to do is to is go directly to the turkey leg stand, and sit in the hub and watch people go by. I also watch the waterfalls near Grizzly River.

How about you?

The question is, what DON'T I like to do at DLR?! I always eat and drink all kinds of stuff (and in larger quantities) that I don't normally eat/drink at home. I always tell myself that - despite my collector's nature and previous souvenir-buying history - I will not be tempted to buy any new stuff, but then I wander into a store, and a friend shouts across the aisles, "Hey, Sherry! Look at this!" And I know I am done for!! I love to people watch. I love to look for Hidden Mickeys and pressed penny machines. I search for all the little details I know about - like the edible plants in Tomorrowland - and then come to this board and find out about more stuff I need to start looking for in the next trip! I am an avid photo buff, and will take pictures of anything and everything - candid or posed; landscapes or people or things. I love character photos and character meals! I pretty much love it all. Next time I go, I am staring at the fake 'gum' on Main Street that is really the magnetic sensors for the parade floats!

Sometimes I like just casually walking not sure where we will go. It just gives me time to look around and smell and be happy I'm there. Most of the time I zip around the parks to get to the next ride so it is fun to wander sometimes. :)

I also like getting a waffle cone at Burr Bank Ice Cream in CA and just sitting outside and watching people go by.

Look for the Mad Hatter, Alice, and the gang at:

Open Ceremony / Band Sets
Musical Chairs
Charades
Magic Show

i just like to look at main street and then go from land to land seeing things i eathier forgot were around or havenmt seen before. all the details of every place there its just like wow

I have started getting in to pics takign lots of pics thats why i cant wiat for my one keep sake toy before the trip that i will have for a while..my new cam and it will be blue too (is so giddy about this cam its so funny)a470 canon

Fake Gum?! Ew. Haha...I didn't even know about that. Definitely gonna try to find it when I'm there.

I learned about the fake gum on this board, in a 'Secrets' thread!!!! Apparently, there is no gum sold anywhere in the parks, so when you see what appears to be gum on Main Street, it could either be what a guest spat out OR it is the fake kind that is actually the magnetic sensors used to detect parade floats' locations as they round corners and things!!! Then, when I thought about it, I realized I think I have seen gum here and there on Main Street but just didn't think anything of it. Obviously, I didn't get down close to it to inspect it, but now I will and people will think I am crazy as a loon!

Watch the Dapper Dans.
Wander through New Orleans Square.
Watch kids try to pull the Sword in the Stone.

Just thought of a few more...

Do all the gags in Toontown
Watch the laughing stock company
"Stalk" dream squad cast members to watch them hand out dreams

edi..ble...plants?!?!?

WHA

Yes, in Tomorrowland. Well, not that we are supposed to break off a leaf and start chowing down, but edible in the sense that every single tree and/or plant/planter you see anywhere in Tomorrowland is a fruit or vegetable of some kind. I just learned that a couple of years ago myself. When my friends and I started checking out the plants & trees, we began to identify many of them and sure enough, all fruits or vegetables! Cool, huh? That is one of those little details about DL that I love.

People watch from anywhere
Make a wish at the well
check out the newer pins
watch the band

We like looking for hidden Mickeys. Yes, a lot are on rides but there are some located elsewhere in both parks. The other is sitting on the stage on TSI (sorry, can't do the pirates lair name) and watching the people across ROA. Ok, that's an attracton too but you don't have to 'explore' the island.

Get a coconut macaroon and people watch
look for all the "secrets" I know about and try to find more

I love flag retreat, especially on the days when the band plays. I also like to sit outside The Matterhorn and let the scent from the plants waft around me -- just like being in the Alps!

I like to help my son find pressed penny machines. I know they have the list at City Hall, but he doesnt, and he enjoys hunting them out.

I love sitting and people watching, especially if I am accompanied with an ice cream of any kind:mickeybar

I love watching the logs go down on Splash Mountain, just as long as it isnt "Flash" Mountain.

Oh, and of course, I LOVE  going in all the shops and just looking around and dreaming:cloud9:

I love to see the live musician performers. Some of my faves include the jazz band that performs by the Christmas store in Orleans Square. ALSO, I'm not sure if they still have him perform, but there was a man who used to play the piano at the Refreshment Corner. He was soo great. A wonderful performer and an amazing pianist!

OHHH and I love to see the artists in the Animation area in DCA and the artists on main street doing line drawings. I just love art period because I enjoy looking at the gallery as well ;)
