DH and I are planning to stay in both a deluxe and a moderate resort next summer. I know we don't want to stay at CBR...bad stay last time. Aside from that we have never stayed at any other moderate. What is your fave moderate, and why? Sorry, but I left CBR off of the poll b/c I already know that won't be one of our choices.

Tasha and Scott,

I would love to know what happened at CBR. We are coming to Florida for the first time and staying there. I have heard loads and loads and loads of really good things about the place and would love to hear about your experiences.

I opened this thread all set to vote for CBR! :p Have a great time, wherever you decide to stay! :sunny:

2BoysMum&Dad: If you're interested, I have a lot of pictures of CBR on my website, here's the link: http://terry527.home.comcast.net/

It's a tie for me between CSR and POR. Take a look at Buzz2000's(I think that's his name) site of CSR (Lots of pictures) and pictures of POR (you can find on allearsnet.com). Which you will like depends on 1)if you mind walking (CSR is spread out) and 2)what themeing you like (POR has more trees and such, CSR more desert-like). I'm staying at CSR in January because my mom no longer wants to stay anywhere else, she loves CSR so much!

We love POR (DxL!!!) It's our favorite moderate. We love the theming...it's so relaxing. The food court was good, the bus transportation was fine. The boat to DD is a nice trip. The pool was excellent, in my dd's opinion!! Yep, we like everything about it.

CSR!! CSR has several advantages compared with the other moderate resorts. It is newer, so there has been less wear-and-tear on everything. Also, CSR is a convention hotel, so it has a few extra amenities not offered at the other moderates, including a salon, a health club and a more upscale food court.

Check out my website below for pics, links and info.

Looks even so far in the poll. All have their on advantages but our favorite through the years still seems to be the FQ.

We have never stayed at POR, but we have stayed at POFQ and CSR. I voted for POFQ though. While I liked CSR alot, I like POFQ better. Something about the whole Mardi Gras aspect.

Oh yeah can someone help us change our counter

...because we have stayed there the most. But we equally loved Coronado Springs. I would say either would be a good pick.

We stayed at CBR and would never never stay there again.

We have toured and eaten at POFQ but felt it was too "quiet" for us and the pool was too "young" for our kids (who were not old). It seems like a lovely hotel for adults or maybe those who have very young children who need a low key place.

PO -
Boat to DTD - Lots of lush landscaping - Great food court - Central location - Choice of two styles of room - great quiet pools - sister to FQ

CSR -
Beautiful resort - great pool/slide - great pool amenties (playground/lots of seating/covered seating/food bar) - great hot tub - Pepper Market if looking for upscale food court

Both were equal in good service, recreation amenities and the feeling of having our own space. I give them equal votes - just different concepts.

CSR - Pepper Market is primo food court. Newer and not as crowded. Bus system was very efficient there!

I voted for CSR. I've stayed at POR & CSR and visited POFQ. Some people complain CSR can have a lot of walking to the main building, depending on where your room is, but I found that to be true at POR also. And at POR I thought the paths were very confusing (I got a bit lost finding our room from the pool one day). At least at CSR its not likely you are going to lose your way. The walks at both resort are pretty though, in different ways. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I was also all set to vote for CBR - we are going in September and it is our FOURTH stay - we love CBR - DH and I have visited the other moderates and although they are beautiful, we just didn't like the theming - we like to feel like we are in the tropics when we are in Florida - good luck with your decisions though!!!

Stayed at POR in June. I got lost walking around the "campus." Wasn't crazy about the pool area. Heading up to CBR tonight. Anyone with advice, let me know now! My first time there.

CBR, by far! I've stayed about 10 times or so, and have never had a bad experience there. I'm interested to hear what happened on your last trip.

But after CBR, I would say POR, or Coronado springs, in that order. I'm not a big fan of the French Quarter.

We absolitely love CSR! We visited in June 2002 stayed in the Ranchos. Loved the secluded feeling of the Ranchos. Grounds were beautiful, everything was clean! Our room was very nice as well. Service in guest services, food court and just all around the resort was great. Soooo...we decided to go back to CSR in May 2004. This time was even better. We requested Casitas, had a beautiful 3rd floor king room in building 5 with a perfect view of the lake. This was a surprise honeymoon upgrade as we didn't ask for the king or the view. The grounds seemed even more beautiful this trip. The pepper market was great! We didn't care for it our first trip but gave it another shot this time and loved it! The main pool is so much fun, and the quiet pool was always empty.
People sometimes say CSR isn't as Disney-like b/c they have conventioners but I have to tell you, both of our trips were in regular season, definitely crowded. When we have stayed anywhere else this time of year, the food court is crowded, the pools are crowded, the buses are crowded...everything is crowded. Both visits to CSR were not like that. Maybe b/c those conventioners everyone seems to dislike take up some rooms, but they don't make much use of the food court, pools, and buses. We never had to wait more than 5 min for a bus and we were never standing. The CSR buses were never totally packed like we experienced at CBR and Allstar Sports. Most of all for us, as we were honeymooning in May 2004, you could walk around the lake at almost anytime of day and it is very relaxed and quiet. There just aren't tons of people running around. Speaking as a huge Disney fan, there is no shortage of the Disney feeling at CSR. Good luck!

Sorry to all of you CBR fans out there! I just personally do not care for it. It lacks in theming, is too spread out, has no elevators (at least not where we stayed), and just does not have a Disney feel to us. On a positive side, we did not have any problems w/the food court. We would have liked the pool better too if the whirlpool had been in a more secluded spot instead of right beside the water slide. I personally did not like how far away it was just to go to the food court to refill our mugs or to swim in the main pool. We mostly used the pool at our section of the resort. That was fine but lacked a slide, whirlpool, or any type of theming. We were happier staying in the ASMo resort and payed half of what we payed for CBR. ASMo was not so spread out...although we didn't really care for the pool there much. I think it is all about personal preference.
Based on pictures we are leaning toward CSR and POFQ. I have heard that CSR is pretty spread out too. Is it as spread out as CBR? If so, what is the best place to request that is closest to the food court and main pool? (We had requested the closest building to the main building at CBR too, but were not accommodated.) It looks really nice. I was actually leaning toward that over CBR last time, but was outvoted!
I think it will be tough deciding between the other 3 mods. They all look charming in their own ways. Thanks everyone for the advice that you have given and hopefully will continue to give! :wave2:

CSR is a large resort but there are things you can do to help. Use the buses to get around the resort.

Theme park buses go:
2 - Casitas
3 - Ranchos
4 - Cabanas
1 - El Centro

Downtown Disney buses, as well as Park Exit buses go:
1 - El Centro
2 - Casitas
3 - Ranchos
4 - Cabanas

CSR buses go in this order so that guests can hop on board a theme park bus and take it to the main building. They can then hop on a DTD bus to get back to their rooms.

Walking Distances
From El Centro moving clockwise around the lake path to:
Casitas 3 = .16 miles
Casitas 4 = .24 miles
Casitas 5 = .27 miles
Ranchos = .46 miles

From El Centro to the Dig Site, via the bridge near the Cabanas
= .35 miles

From El Centro moving counterclockwise around the lake to:
Cabanas 9B = .16 miles
Cabanas 9A/8B = .22 miles
Cabanas 8A = .31 miles

As far as locations go, cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site over the wooden bridge.

cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building.

cabana 8b and 9a are inbetween the 2 above.

ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

The casitas are close to the gym, spa and have great fountains and courtyards. casita 5 is close to the Dig Site with a good walk to the main building. The lower the casita number the closer towards the main building.

Thanks Buzz2001! Could you post your web site. I guess since the signatures have been disabled it is not showing up! Thanks! :D
