I saw a thread on this but it was almost two years old so I wondered if anyone had any other ideas besides pizza and spaghetti? Also we will be staying @ BWV so do you prefer the pizza on the BW or ordering one?

For a light supper we like a baked potato with salsa and cheese. Bacon bits add a nice flavor. I like no pans to clean.

Are you driving?
If so: Precook meat and freeze in individual bags. Thaw there. Pre-chop veggies and bag. Bring your crockpot and you can quickly throw cooked meat and veggies into crockpot to make many items such as soups, chili, stews, etc. You can also prepare casseroles ahead to bring. Just line the pan with foil, freeze, and pop out. Bring one casserole pan with you to do the baking in when you get there.
Flying? Not sure what you would do besides easy things like hamburgers unless you like to spend a lot of time cooking on vacation.

Like most others, we really want to limit the cooking/cleanup while on vacation so we try to keep it as simple as possible. We like to buy the pre-cooked rotisserie chickens and use them for several meals. For dinner we'll have chicken, rice and veggies and then the next day for lunch we'll have chicken ceasar salad or something quick like that. Other nights we'll do hot dogs/hamburgers, tacos etc...

We usually do tacos one night- pretty easy and clean up was quick too. We have done spaghetti, hot dogs also. :goodvibes

We love to cook and don't mind clean up, so we'll often do a traditional thanksgiving style meal, that way we have leftovers for days to be creative with.

On recent trip to Aulani, we prepared most of our own meals. We made a grocery run to Costco at the beginning of the trip for all the basics:
  • Romaine lettuce in a convenient 5-pack. Use as salad or base for other dishes. Can even be used for lettuce wraps!
  • Tortellini antipasta: this premade food item was doled out through the week as either a side dish or served over romaine as a meal.
  • Seafood stuffed portabella mushrooms: simply bake and serve!
  • Chinese chicken salad mix: generally includes pre-cooked chicken (cubed), almonds (sliced), wonton/crunchy noodle toppings and salad dressing. Add this to a head of romaine lettuce for meal-sized salads.
  • Soup. We enjoy Costco pre-made soups sold in large tubs as well as some of the frozen, lunch-size options such as Wonton Shrimp.
  • Eggs: Boil some for lunchtime snacks in the parks and serve others "cooked to order" for breakfast.
  • Snack bars: again, great to keep on hand when staying in the parks for long days?
  • Milk and Cereal: Sure, Costco sizes were large -- but still cheaper than buying in smaller quantities from other stores.
  • Bread: I love Costco's fresh Rosemary Olive or Roasted Garlic loaves!
  • Beverages: We tried a 6-pack of Coconut Water. Interesting ... but not my favorite. ;)
We also made a few runs to "normal" stores for those items we really didn't need to buy in bulk:
  • Rice! Cook up a large batch at the beginning of the week and add to dishes as you go. I also add cooked rice to chopped chinese chicken salad mix served in lettuce wraps. Yummy!
  • Condiments: butter, oil oil, salt, pepper, salad dressing, etc.
  • Chips, sweets, wasabi peas, etc.

What a great thread! :worship:I love the ideas~ :thumbsup2

we often make spaghetti and meatballs one day, and make extra meatballs so we can have meatball subs one night!

When the kids were younger we did quite a bit of eating in the villa as they preferred it that way. Nothing fancy but:

tacos
spaghetti and meatballs
chicken wraps and salad
hoagies
chicken quesidillas
grilled cheese and tomato soup
fajitas
turkey burgers and baked beans
mac 'n cheese

Tacos/quesadillas/sandwiches. I cook up a big pot of taco meat and black beans the first night. Add cheese, lettuce tomato, voila. The same lettuce and tomato can be used the next night with flour tortillas and deli meat for sandwiches. The third night, we have leftovers.

None!! Just kidding- we only cook breakfast in as we do DDP and I love to make a full breakfast- eggs, pancakes, bacon, fruit salad, etc. nice full tummies to start out our day at the parks. When we visit HHI we cook in almost every night and we always make a favorite from each family member.

We buy a store broaster chicken and have that one night for dinner and anotehr for lunch and assorted pickin... We also like a frozen lasagna with maybe garlic bread... both are easy and fairly quick!

I also use the roaster chickens. We get three for our family of 5. One the first night with the pre cooked garlic mashed potatoes with a can of corn and some nice potato rolls. I clean off all the meat from the rest of the chickens to make things easier the rest of the meals. Its also easier to do it when they are warm, and only do this messy job once per vacation!:thumbsup2

Second meal is chicken fajitas with all the fixings, third is chicken Cesar salad, and if there anything left, chicken nachos or chicken and cheese rolls.

I find if I also get some nice sliced ham, it adds to the variety when I do the rolls.

One last thing we always do is Breakfast for dinner. Since we are early to the park people, we never get that traditional big breakfast. So we do it one evening with the bacon, eggs, french toast, sausages, toast etc.. Everybody really likes it and it's a meal that you can pick up everything you need at any resort general store. You can do things pretty quickly with scrambled eggs and French toast, the meat cooked in the microwave and we always use up any leftover guacamole and salsa too.

Except for the fridge, I thought the other appliances were decorations just put there to make you feel at home.
You mean they really work?:rotfl:
