So what is your favorite car rental company? Why is it your favorite? On the other side, what is your least favorite, and why?

My Favorite is Avis. Although it is sometimes more expensive, I have never had a problem with them, ever.

Least favorite is Alamo because I had an absolutely horrible experience with them and have not used them since.

I would say Dollar for us. We have used them 3 times and have never had any problems AND they are by far the cheapest with at discount code. We also joined dollar express and on our last visit, went to the dollar express line and had our keys within minutes...cant beat that!!

The best was National.

The worst was Dollar. They made us wait two hours with a confirmed reservation for our minivan. It would not have been bad but it was 11 pm and we were traveling with young kids.

It reminded me of the Seinfeld episode. Don't you make a reservation to hold a car? LOL.

I only rent from National at MCO. I have an employer-negotiated rate that is usually within $50 of the nearest competitor for a week, and I just love the Aisle service---walk out, pick out a car, and drive off.

I used to check other companies' prices, but don't even do that anymore. It would have to be a large savings to get me to switch.

I love that one!

"You know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation".

Hilarious!

Favorite
Hertz for their Prestige rentals.

Least Favorite
Dollar for their attrocious customer service and the downgrades I've received the very few times I have rented (ie. Intermediate for a Convertible).

Alamo: On site, cheap rates and the kiosk is a breeze. It used to be National Emerald Aisle but the prices are always higher than Alamo.

I'd have to say Alamo, especially the Kiosk service. Our favorite was Avis until the last two trips. First trip in April, we had to change cars twice because of the condition of the car and then we were charged for a tank of gas (after filling the car). Thankfully, we had a receipt. On the most recent trip in November, we had a dead battery and Avis Roadside Assistance took over two 1/2 hours to get to us. Didn't like being stranded for that long!

I use Avis and book through my insurance company's web site. I get pretty good discounts, much higher insurance levels included, and if there is someone traveling with me who has the same insurance company, they can be added as an authroized driver at time of rental with no additional charge. My insurance company also has coupons (free weekend day, etc.) which automatically link to Avis so I don't actually have to bring the coupon with me.

I can use my Wizard number and walk right to the car as well.

Favorite is Thrifty and earning free days.

Least favorite is Enterprise, always, always, always, a very dirty car.
