We just got a chest freezer in the basement with the intention of stocking it with some convenience food from Costco in preparation of baby #2 arriving any day. (Last time around I did a bunch of freezer meals in advance...this time with a two year old running around...not so much!)

What are your favorites? We rarely buy any of their frozen food other than pizzas and veggies/fruit due to not having a ton of freezer space. Looking for stuff that could be a lunch or dinner, and not so much an appetizer for a party.

My husband and kids love the potstickers. That and a big salad makes a quick dinner.

Buy a few rotisserie chickens and shred. Throw in some freezer safe containers.... quick and easy to have on hand for tacos, soup, etc.

I know people rave about the orange chicken from there...

My husband and kids also really love their hot dogs.

We have a few Costco favorites. The first is the panko crusted chicken tenders from Tyson. Sometimes we just have them with honey mustard or BBQ sauce, but I also bake them with marinara sauce and top with mozzarella cheese. Its our version of Chicken Parmesan. We also like the tortilla crusted tilapia and the Alaskan salmon. For any of these three I add a starch (baked potatoes or rice) and a salad or vegetable and call it a meal. We also have a breakfast favorite that I also take for lunch fairly often: Smart ones breakfast burritos. They come 2 in a package.

I don't have a ton of freezer space, so I tend to freeze meats or leftovers rather than prepared foods.

But your title made me think of something that happened recently so I just thought I'd share.

I bought a prepared frozen chicken dish recently at Trader Joes. It tasted pretty good. But I noticed later on it made me feel not so great. DH said the same thing. I think the sodium content was a lot higher than we're used to.

So just a head's up that if you buy frozen meals, you might want to check the sodium content unless it doesn't bother you.

We don't buy any of the convenience foods anymore, but I love their frozen spinach and cheese ravioli and also another vote for Tyson Panko chicken (they are NOT precooked, just so you're aware you need to bake them!). I don't think I've had any other frozen convenience food there. These aren't frozen, but their refrigerated soups are delicious, especially the tomato. They come in a 2-pack and I bet you could just toss them in the freezer.

Buy a package of the "rotisserie" chicken (packaged in about 3 -4 pound packages, found in the deli case or nearby). All off the bone. Just large pieces of rotisserie chicken breast. I immediately package it into 3 or 4 freezer bags and freeze it. It is DELICIOUS and super easy to unthaw and make a quick hot or cold pasta dish (my favorite is sundried tomato, onion, garlic, some heavy whipping cream, and the chicken....SO good, and SO simple), or soup. It is delicious chicken to boot.

This is a great idea!

I like the Panko Crusted Halibut. Very nice, white, flaky fish and the crust is very crispy. Probably not overly healthy but it's a nice change of pace for a quick meal. I forget the brand name on it, though.

Kind of only a local offering, but this:

It's not a meal but I love their french onion soup. Our Costco only carries it around now. There are six soups in the box. We buy a couple of boxes and have soup and sandwich or soup and salad for dinner.

They used to have these Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes with multiple flavors. They were frozen and needed to be thawed out, so I'd call that frozen.

Meatballs. I use them for spaghetti and meatballs, BBQ meatballs, meatball sandwiches and swedish meatballs. A bag lasts awhile....
We like the spinach and mozzarella ravioli and there are Indian simmer sauces in the refrigerated section that I really like. I have frozen them and defrosted them later. I just heat them up and serve over rice. They are called Maya Kaimal and our Costco has a two pack with Coconut Curry and Vindaloo.

Kirkland pizza
potstickers
chicken breast tenders
(occasionally) salmon patties
orange chicken
meatballs

We don't do a lot of pre-made meals, but we do keep the above on hand regularly.

We rarely buy frozen entrees, but we do like the Panko Breaded Tilapia and I did buy the Marie Callender's Chicken Pot Pies after my last pregnancy and they are okay for when you are really desperate for something to just heat and eat. One of our other favourite items is the pierogies that can be found in the refrigerated section. They are sold as a 3-pack and we just toss them directly into the freezer for when we want them. In fact, you may want to just browse down the refrigerated prepared meals section (like where the hummus, some of the specialty cheeses, and the deli meats are in a lot of the stores). There are lots of items there that are "fresh," but that keep for an extended time in the fridge, or that can be thrown into the freezer as well. I'm thinking of things like fresh ravioli, Aidells sausages (especially the pineapple and bacon one...hope this doesn't toss us back to the pineapple on pizza thread again!), and the pierogies I already mentioned. Congratulations on welcoming a new little one soon!

Thanks all! We went last night and picked up: frozen breakfast sausage (we love the kind they sell--clean ingredient list and no nitrates), Coleman bacon, a few different cuts of frozen chicken, egg rolls (on sale so I thought I'd try them), pizzas, their 2 pack of ice cream (never had room for that before and the kirkland ice cream is amazing!), pot stickers, and the Tyson chicken strips everyone recommended. I hadn't tried those before. I didn't get as much "meal ready" stuff as I was planning on because I wasn't feeling the greatest and nothing sounded good to me...but it's nice to know that we have the room for things we want to try in the future!

Thanks to all of you who shared your ideas. We don't have that San Francisco ice cream here--but it does look good!
