I'm hosting a few kids to make Christmas cookies this weekend and looking for fun and easy recipes - kids are 7-10 years old.

Snickerdoodles
Sugar cookie cut-outs (if you're up for the mess!)
Chocolate chip
Saltine bar cookies
Gingersnaps

They love to decorate! I had a cookie party and the girls had a blast. I got a lot of sprinkles, etc. and we made many colors of icing. They also had choc chip slice and bakes and sugar cookies to put reese cups and kisses on. for a variety. I cheated and bought a box of 78 pre cut ready to bake at GFS and they were actually pretty good. I put down a plastic table cloth...but wow, what a mess. Our two labs helped clean the floors!:rotfl:

My girls love the cutouts. We do a basic sugar cookie recipe, roll it and use all different cutters. They love to decorate them. Have fun!

Chocolate chip or any kind of cookie other than cut out cookies, or sugar cookies, what ever you want to call them. Mine love to do the peanut butter cookies with the Hersey Kiss in the middle.

I would make snickerdoodles, here is an easy recipe:

I would get a cookie press and play with that too, spritz cookies are yummy and the kids can decorate them with sprinkles. Or if you have a Gordon Foods or some bulk food (restaurant supply) store like that they have the dough already made and cut out (it's frozen in a box, good size cookies) and you just bake the different shapes and have kids frost and decorate them.

Jello Pudding Cookies!

SUPER EASY for little kids :cool1:

3/4 c. Bisquick flour
1 pkg. instant pudding
1/4 c. cooking oil
1 egg

Put in bowl and beat well. Roll in small balls. Flatten on cookie sheet; add nuts. Bake 8 minutes at 350 degrees.

We generally double or triple the recipe.

While our very favorite is Christmas Cookie Cut Sugar cookies with frosting and sprinkles, they are VERY messy and time consuming. If you are up to making the cookies ahead of time, then the frosting and sprinkles with the kids they will LOVE it.

One of the favorite recipes that my kids make without help from anyone is

"How The Grinch Crinkled Christmas Cookies"

Ingredients:

6 Tbs Butter
1 C Powdered Sugar
1 tsp Corn Starch
1 Box French Vanilla Cake Mix
2 Eggs
Green Food Coloring (about 60 drops)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Melt butter and set aside to cool
In a shallow dish mix powdered sugar and cornstrch with a fork
In a large bowl, mix together the cooled butter, cake mix and eggs. This will be a little hard to stir together. Add the green food coloring and make sure that it is all mixed in. Take two spoons (or cookie scoop) and drop a blob of dough into powdered sugar mixture. Then once its covered, roll into a ball and place on parchment paper lined cookie sheet.

Each oven is different but I bake these for 9 minutes. (They won't look done but they are) Take them out of the oven and cool on the pan for one minute. Then move onto cooling rack. Store in container to keep soft.

The kids love these and of course you could make them in all different colors , just alternate the food coloring......Have a great time!

Well, I kinda cheat. We love cutout cookies, so I make the Pillsbury gingerbread cookies that come in a big tube. So I guess I don't really "make" them! But I bake them and decorate them, that's the fun part. And after baking for years and years, I can honestly say that these are great tasting cookies.

We did cake pop decorating at a party. The host made the cake pops in advance, and had several kinds of melted chocolate, crushed candies, nuts, sprinkles, etc. available. That was a lot of fun, too. Our host covered styrofoam in wrapping paper so we could stick the pops in while they hardened. They were delicious and everybody had so much fun. We also had holiday Oreos for dipping, and Nutter Butter cookies available for making snowmen. So cute!
