What size room? There are several studios that face the Village Green, which is the lawn between the Villas and the Inn on the boardwalk side. They have a partial boardwalk/lake view. I had a 1 bedroom on the top floor over the quiet pool once, it was nice. My least favorite was at the end of the hall next to Jellyrolls, facing the canal and Jellyroll's dumpster.
We will have a 2 bedroom lockoff. Wait listed for Boardwalk view but I am not expecting it. We had a first floor standard view of front entrance the last time we stayed at BWV. I did not like the location much. Room was dark and no balcony.
See Granny's map. Your choices are the areas in red, except for the small section on the boardwalk side (studios only). If walking is an issue, request close to elevators.
I'll be interested to hear the answers to this. The one time I had a garden/preferred view, it was the worst view I've had anywhere at DVC. Fortunately it was just one night-I was switching to a BW view the next day. But my room was tucked in a corner over a door to go out. All I could see from my balcony was other walls and looking down, the walkway. And people were going thru the door constantly, so it was pretty noisy.
I would request quiet pool, you can go down the steps to the bus stop or parking lot. I only stayed in pool/garden once and that was where I was at. If you don't have a problem with steps or walking to the elevator, I would also request top floor, it would be more quiet. Requests are hard to get at BWV, it's usually full.
So when do you make the requests for your room. I am new to this. I was at SSR in March and just requested when I checked in online. I have heard that you shouldn't do online. My question is should I call and request now. My trip is May 17.

Yes, you should call MS and make a request to be noted on your reservation.
I'm not much help either, because the only time I had a pool/garden view I called and asked for a "pool" view. I thought, maybe I'll get it because it didn't matter whether it was main pool or quiet pool. Well I got a pool view and it was Swan and Dolphin. We were in the last room next to the dumpsters and when we sat out on our balcony we got to listen to the trucks pulling into (and out of) the loading dock. I know, someone has to have those rooms, but I wasn't thrilled with my location at all. I normally book standard room here. I would call and request a high view and quiet pool. I have the worse luck getting any request here. In January I asked to be as far away from the lobby as possible and close to the tennis court. Well they put me in the first studio near the elevator/laundry room. I said far, but they gave me the opposite of what I wanted. I tried to change rooms, and the CM did laugh a little when she said people ask to be near the elevator all of the time, and here I was asking not to be near the elevator. They didn't have any room to move me to and that's where we stayed. We were fine and adjusted. It wasn't as noisey as I thought it would be. I like to be far away from the luggage loading area. We stay here often and we pretty much know that we aren't going to get any request, but yet I continue to make them each time!
