Favorite backpack for DSLR & "stuff"?

So, my youngest is nearly potty-trained (yea!) and we will be diaper-bag free (have been using a backpack diaper bag) for our next trip. Lately, I've been carrying my DSLR in a cross-body bag in the parks, but it kills my neck. So, I'd like to switch to a backpack model that has a good, easy-to-reach spot for my DSLR, but also room for other stuff (my daughter has life-threatening food allergies, so I'll still have to carry Epi-pen, Benadryl, wipes, and a change of clothes (she's contact allergic, so someone spilling ice cream on her needs to be remedied ASAP)). Any suggestions for specific bags that you love?

Thanks!

I use a Domke wrap and keep my DSLR in my regular backpack. It works for me because I don't have anything else heavy in the bag. Also, it can move around and I definitely feel it in there, so I think this probably works better for smaller backpacks.

I'm not familiar with those. Googling them now. Thanks!

Does security have to totally take them out of the bag and unwrap them?

I haven't tried since the new screenings. In the past, I would just wear the camera past the bag check and wrap it once I'm through. I guess you could just peel back the corner while waiting in line so they see that it's a camera and then reseal it before stepping through the metal detector. I also have 2 Crumpler bags that I use when I don't need to carry extra stuff.

I've done this, too. It was either on me using a Blackrapids strap, or wrapped in the backpack. I have a neoprene camera cover I cut a slit in so I could use it with the Blackrapids strap when I wanted a little protection when I was walking around with the camera on me.

My parks bag is a Deuter city light backpack with a padded insert for my dslr (ape case). I don't carry multiple lenses but I do carry a first aid kit and sometimes an umbrella and/or flip flops. I love the pockets and size and its small enough that you can undo one shoulder strap and sling it around under your arm to access the main compartment. Very light and comfortable.

Hi, my name is Wen and I'm a camera backpack addict.

I'm always on the hunt for the "perfect" backpack. My favorite by far is the Lowepro Hatchback. https://www.adorama.com/lpphb16lgy.html
It is super comfortable and fairly light compared to other camera backpacks. The camera compartment is against your back but it's easy enough to slide one arm out and bring it in front of you. I also keep my wallet in that section. There's enough room in the top section for rolled up hoodies, some water bottles, autograph books, snacks and "mom kit" -band aids, wipes, meds etc. More than enough room for what you need while still relatively compact.

This is the backpack my husband uses for his DSLR, he loves it. He carries the camera and autograph books and his hoodie. I usually carry another regular backpack for the kids change of clothes and our hoodies.

It's so comfortable and compact but carries just enough. I can get mine and my two younger kids hoodies in there rolled up plus waters and smaller stuff. I put their autograph books in the part made for the iPad.
