Father's Day gifts on airlines

Does anyone know if we can pack a wrapped gift in our checked luggage? I know you must leave it unwrapped if it is a carry on (or unwrap it before getting on board).

If there is any reason they deem necessary to open you luggage, they could possibly open the gift. I doubt that it would happen but all luggage is 'security cleared' now.

I wouldn't be too worried about it, I don't think.

Why not use a gift (shopping) bag so you don't have to worry about it being opened.
