FastPass vs Seeing the Line

The standby line for some attractions have become an attraction by themselves. And I understand that if we get fastpasses for some of them we will not see a lot. In which attractions do we miss a line that is worth seeing?

For example, in Test Track we miss the whole build-my-car thing, right?

Peter Pan's Flight has a new standby queue that is nice to see, however, I'd only recommend prioritizing that queue if the wait is tolerable (for me, that'd be 15 minutes or less, maybe 20). The queue isn't worth the extreme wait times that attraction can experience.

No, you'll still do 'build a car' in the FP line. Its only the single rider line that bypasses it. (By the way, single riders can either do the simple design a car, but if they'd rather do the whole thing, go in the exit (i.e., gift shop) and work your way backwards thru the showroom and towards the ride exit. On your left there will be three full design stations...just don't re-do it going thru the single rider line)

DH & I were watching a behind the scenes Disney show the other day and they were walking through the Expedition Everest line explaining the background of the ride. We have ridden EE well over 20 times, and not once have we waited standby. There was a lot we missed, including the WHOLE story of the attraction! That's one ride I will definitely walk through the standby queue on my next trip - but like a PP said, I'd only do that if the wait was tolerable.

Star Tours is entertaining as is Haunted Mansion. With Star Tours you can take your time and see the queue.

Everest is really neat. We did HM standby for the first time this summer and I was bummed that the line moved so fast (10 minute wait) because we didn't get to really take it all in. Space mountain was kind of fun too.

I will agree with the OP that the lines can be an attraction themselves, but I guess it depends on what part of the attraction you are interested in most. The ride or the line.

I too have gone through some lines "Too Quickly" and missed things. That's just a motivation to go to the ride again. Haunted Mansion is one of them. I think I see something new each time we go through the line too.

I will say another "Attraction" we saw in the line was not "Planned" by Disney. Sadly it was a parent. We were in the Peter Pan Line (which is ALWAYS long) and his boy (and daughter to a lessor extent) were getting "Antsy" (understandable) and his dad did nothing but chastise the poor kid and tell him how he was going to ruin the vacation by complaining. I felt sorry for the kid, but let me tell ya did "Dad" put on the show. Sad but true!

It's not worth the pain of waiting in line just to see the neat do-dads they put in the standby queues in my opinion. It's kinda neat to do that once, but I think it may be more fun to pull off your toenails.

However, if you ARE stuck in the line, it's nice to have something to occupy your time.

There is a customize a car terminal in single rider on the least bend, but there is no instructions on what it is if you don't know.

IN my opinion, if I am willing to stand in the single rider line, that means I want to get through the line quicker. Not to wait and play with some virtual car maker. While it may be nice to have, I'd rather not "Customize" my car and just ride the ride. After all the ride doesn't change as a result of "MY" Customization, only the "Displayed Results" of the tests of my design change.

Of course after all is said and done, when you get off the ride you can go and play with all the "Do-Dads" (thanks @rucifee) at the end by the gift shop.

I don't remember the last time I was "stuck" in a standby line, if a ride is more than a few minutes and I don't have a fast pass I'll skip it until next time. You're right though, it is nice to be able to occupy the time.

If that's the case, it must be new since March. From my experience, on the single rider line, there is a set of terminals (I think 6 or 8) early in the single rider queue. These are not the same terminals that the standby and fastpass guests use. The customization options are much more limited. I'm not aware of another terminal on the last bend (I can't imagine there's room for it)...

It was last decemeber I saw it. I never used it, I just remember passing 2 screens worth just before you reach the cast member that has you wait in the middle of the hallway before you reach where the ride is. Maybe last bend was wrong, but last bend before that first CM stop.

Yes. There are lots of activities in the SB line for Haunted mansion. Additionally, while in the SB line there is an option to go a longer path (and see more).

In addition to those already mentioned, without giving too much away-The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train also has an interesting queue, with some interactive elements- once you're inside. Personally I wouldn't wait more than 20-25 minutes for it, or anything else for that matter. If you have young kids, or fun-loving adults the Pooh line has a play area of sorts that is interesting. The line for the Little Mermaid is also interesting; Scuttle tells you to help him find certain things the crabs are carrying. Space Mountain has a game inside. Thunder Mountain has things to read and interact with.

At Hollywood, Toy Story has a very interesting queue with all kinds of toys, games, etc and a giant talking Mr. Potato head; fastpass sees just a little bit of this. At Animal Kingdom, the It's a Bugs Life takes you through the tree of life, with dozens and dozens of animal carvings; you bypass most of this in the FP.

Big Thunder Mountain has interactive elements too. I also love the queue for Tower of Terror but fortunately you will still petty much all of the details in the FP queue too.

Where do you enter with a FP for Enchanted Tales with Belle? Do you skip her living room and Maurice' workshop and enter immediately in the castle where they divide the parts?
