Fastpass scheduling question

I've been practicing scheduling my fastpasses and had a question about the time options. Someone said it's better to pick the time slots that are furthest from what you want--and then adjust the times. Is that really the best way? It seems confusing.

When I first had to pick my slots I was very confused be the time I wanted for a particular ride never showed up and I thought they didn't have it. I didn't realize that I could go in and then modify the ride time. What I did was I mapped out which rides I wanted for morning and which rides I wanted for afternoon and then got the time slot for either AM or PM on that day. Didn't really matter the time for me once I realized I could modify the time. Then after I booked all my FPs I went back in and tweaked them all for the times I wanted. The only 1 I really could not tweak was for Anna and Elsa. Everything else I was able to tweak for around the time I wanted.

What will happen is that it will show you some selected times, times that you may or may not want. The best thing to do is just select one quickly then go immediately into edit it and choose the time you actually want. You will choose the three first so make sure none of what you choose will conflict with what you do want to change one to (because if you have a conflict that time won't show when you go to select). It's sort of hard to explain, but you'll see it when you do it.

Honestly, only Anna & Elsa, 7DMT and maybe MSEP or Wishes are extremely hard to get. The others you can adjust leisurely so don't panic.

It's hit or miss. Most of my first or second choices came up. Then I learned it's all about going in and modifying.
You can end up with close to exactly what you want by modifying. Things that weren't available, become available.
Each time I modified, for example, the Anna & Else option came up. We were not interested in that, but I know many are. I think you can still get what you want.

Thanks. I think I'll try it on the website rather than the app. I think that's throwing me off a bit.

I booked fastpasses for the first time last week (60 days out,) so I'm no expert. But a few things I know I had read somewhere but really didn't take to heart...

- You should get where you want to be either way, but I do think it was actually easier to take times that are far off from what you are actually shooting for. For instance, if you want AM fast passes, take all afternoon/evening. This is simply because you will not be offered windows that overlap with your window for any other ride. If you're trying to be particular about times like I was, it's easier just to have all the passes "out of the way" so you don't have to manipulate window times repeatedly to get things to look just the way you want. Like others have said, this really didn't seem time sensitive other than maybe for 7DMT (I didn't do A&E, praise the lord for sons.)
- I read to book fastpasses for one, not your whole group, but I figured, why not try for all or us! BAD IDEA! I got a 7DMT for 3 people, but could only get it for 3pm (wanted earlier.) Once I snagged the 3pm window, I was unable to separate out individual people to look for an earlier window. I was afraid to move the window for one of us to a later time (the only thing available) just to then try to move that person earlier. I finally found an overlapping window (3:30) and moved one of us to that window. And sure enough, then a whole host of earlier times opened up for that individual. I moved that person up, separated out the second person to a later time, moved that person up, and then moved the last person up. Now I have 3 individual, but overlapping passes for around noon. It worked out, but kind of stressed me out.
- I definitely got different time options on the app than the website and this helped me get my overlapping 7DMT passes. Actually got more options on the app than the website.

Hope this helps someone!
