My friend sent me this, said she saw it on some disney news site (didnt tell me which one).... dont know if its been mentioned already but i thought id share

FASTPASS modifications

It looks as though some tweaking may be underway with FASTPASS, initially at Epcot. Next week there are plans to modify the system to significantly reduce the time before a second FASTPASS can be obtained (with the exception of a second FASTPASS to the same attraction). This is only a trial, and may or may not become a permanent change.

I think they may have already started the tweaking. We were there this morning, and our Test Track FP said we could grab another FP for another attraction right away. (We didn't, but only because there wasn't anything else we wanted a FP for!). Usually it's been the "wait a couple hours before getting another one"---that's definitely still in place at MK!

I also have a question.........for instance say your in MK, could you get a 1 fastpass per advertureland, fronierland, fantasyland or is the whole MK hooked together???
thanks :)

For the most part, the FP system is linked together. I believe some rides are taken off the system from time to time (and some might not be linked to the system at all. Someone might know which rides are not linked).

There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it either. When we got a FP for Buzz on Saturday night, we were able to get another one for another ride about an hour later. However, when we later got a FP for Space Mountain, it was over two hours later before we could get another FP for any ride (might have to do with the return time--I wasn't paying enough attention to be certain).

Hope that helps a little. :)

We noticed this at Epcot when we were there last week. We received our Mission Space fastpass and expected to have to wait until our designated time to get the next fastpass. However, the fastpass said we could get another fastpass NOW for any OTHER attraction. We picked up a Test Track and a Maelstrom fast pass right away.

I think other people noticed this as well, as we were offered additional fast passes twice for Test Track from people who said they got them but decided not to use them.

is this just happening at EPCOT??
I sure hope it happens in other parks!!

Same with us, only I didn't notice it until late in the day. On our way home, I still had one FP in my pocket from TT, and I was looking at it and it said that I could get another FP for another attraction right away, no waiting! It didn't matter anyway, we did M:S twice and TT twice anyway, but that would be cool if that became a permenant change. I was very confused about this :confused3 , but now it is starting to make some sense!

:cool1: Hopefully this will work out in Epcot and move over to Magic Kingdom :cool1:

where do you go to obtain the FP's? Are they adjacent to the ride you are trying to get one for or are they in a general location, where?

TIA

A FP machine is near the attraction it is intended for.

thanks for the quick reply...I feel better knowing.

The FP machines are clearly marked and usually just to the side of the attraction entrances that offer them. Above them will also tell the current return times for that FP.

It will be interesting to see how this new idea works out in the long run.

Last Thursday I got fast passes for the new stunt show at MGM and it said I was able to get another FP very shortly after I had gotten that one (maybe 15 minutes, wasn't paying attention to time that carefully and was surprised when I noticed that it was such a short time). I don't know if that was just because it was for a show and not a ride or if they might not be linked to the rest of the system yet. I was surprised however.

In March we were able to get a second FP 5 minutes after the first FP became active. The new system does sound much better though. It will be great in Epcot when Soarin' is open.

My only concern is we waited 20 minutes in the Fastpass line of Test Track. I don't know if this is normal or they were having their usual equipment problem. Will the Fastpass lines become much slower when the new system is in place?

Sorry if I am not in the norm, but I think this is a terrible idea. This would mean that the fast passes will run out faster, making it almost impossible to get a fast pass later in the day. The only way to get around this is to issue more fast passes, but that would mean the fast pass lines would become longer.

Could this be a bad thing? Wouldn't it contribute to all of the passes running out earlier (or at least longer waits for your assigned time) if they still assign the same number of passes per time? Or longer lines if they give more passes per time frame.

It will be great for the first park you go to in a day but might be a problem if you went to a second park later in the day.

Oops, sorry. I didn't see that Bryon had exactly the same comment right above me. Great minds think alike, I guess.
