Hello,

We have fastpasses booked for 5/24 - 5/31. I have a party of 6. One of our party has an annual pass. 5 of us have 'regular' tickets.

Yesterday 5/3, I cancelled a disney hotel (room only) stay for our trip that covered all 6 in our party. This morning, our annual passholder received one email for each day of our trip titled "Action may be required: FASTPASS+ selections issue". Each email states:
To keep your FastPass+ selections, by 05/05/2019, you may need to:
  • Purchase another ticket and link it to your My Disney Experience account.
  • Link a ticket you already have to your My Disney Experience account.
  • Link an eligible Resort Reservation to your My Disney Experience account.

The other 5 in our party received no such emails. All fastpasses for all 6 of us show right now, but it seems at least our annual passholder might have his fastpasses deleted tomorrow, even though he's within 30 days.

I was considering reassigning one of the 5 regular tickets to the annual passholder, then reassigning it back to the original ticketholder, thinking this might "reset" something in the system.

Any ideas how to keep our fastpasses?

Thanks!

I’ve heard from a couple of folks who canceled a room only reservation within 30 days that their FP were canceled. I know some are still getting through but Disney seems to be aggressively pursuing these situations and taking action since it violates their T&C. With Star Wars stuff coming and a lot of other attractions set to open by 2021, it’s necessary to protect those staying on site from those attempting to game the system.

Do you have any resort stay still? Or did you cancel your only resort stay? If so I thought that this is exactly why they messed with MDE back in February, making it so that when you cancel a room reservation you lose your FP.

If you booked the FPs before the 60 day mark and have since cancelled a room reservation that was used to provide that advantage, the FPs are supposed to be cancelled if you don't book a new room, even though that hasn't been what has been happening so far, it sounds like they are finally enforcing the new rule fully.

We no longer have any Disney resort reservations.

Could I book a one-night stay to keep the fastpasses?

I don’t think so. The fastpasses are linked to the hotel reservation. I don’t think booking a new reservation would help. Others may know better.

ok so let me get this straight

  1. You booked a Disney hotel to get the Fast pass advantage
  2. You then cancelled that Disney Hotel
  3. You are now upset that your Fastpasses may be cancelled, even though you do not have a Disney hotel booking

So where are you actually staying?
Do you have an offiste cheaper hotel or are you staying with your AP friend?

You were basically trying to game the system, to obtain Fastpasses which are for Disney guests, when you are not Disney guests

oopsie deary me, tough tomatoes, suck it up butercup,

Sounds correct. At least that’s how it is supposed to work. YMMV, though. Eventually the loopholes will all be closed and the blood sucking parasites will no longer be able to game the system. And I will celebrate.

Only for the day of check in and check out. If you rebooked onsite for your entire trip, then you would indeed keep your FPs. But you have to rebook within something like 24 or 48 hours of cancelling.

You MIGHT be able to keep them if you pick one of the non Disney resorts that get 60 day FPs.

But basically the system is working as designed.

Because only the AP has received the cancellation Warning, Disney apparently is sweeping AP accounts where FPs were booked over 30 days out with an onsite stay that was subsequently canceled.

Because DISboard Policy, set by Administrators and Webmasters, states that circumventing Disney Rules and Policies cannot be discussed on the board, closing this thread.
