Fastest Way to get to POR after MK Wishes

Is it a lot faster to bus back to POR after Wishes as opposed to taking the monorail to the TTC and driving back to the resort.

We'll be park hopping that day and plan to spend the day at Epcot. I was planning to drive to Epcot so that we could have jackets, etc, in the car for that night so we wouldn't have to tote them around Epcot. However, if it will take a lot longer getting back to POR that night after Wishes then I would consider either going back to POR after Epcot and then taking the bus to MK or taking the bus to Epcot that morning, monorail to MK later, and then bussing back to POR that night.

I know that the line to even get on the TTC monorail after Wishes is very long (did that with my sister, elderly mother and 5yo last month--UGH), but didn't know if the bus would be much better.

We took the bus to POR after Wishes when we were there last June. Didn't wait long. Two busses arrived as we arrived at the bus stop. We watched Wishes from the top of the train station, so we were close to the exit and that might have helped. It was very crowded that evening. Sorry, but I don't have any experiences with driving to MK, but I did notice a big crowd headed for the monorail. We usually park hopped during our stay and drove to the evening park, but we always took the bus to MK.

I also normally bus to MK, but last trip we were offsite the night we saw Wishes (and had never seen Wishes on past trips, so nothing to compare it with). We watched Wishes from the hub and of course it was then a mob scene to get out, but we were pushing a wheelchair and a stroller so couldn't exactly make the best time.

How was the viewing by the train station, both in terms of crowds and seeing the fireworks?

If you decide to drive take the boat over the monorail to the TTC as it holds more people at a time and has less wait in line time. When you get on the boat walk to the front and you will be first off. I think it is a nice relaxing ride.

Don't forget once you get to the TTC, you have to wait in the long line for the tram... then you get to experience my nightly joy of battling thousands of crazy tourist drivers fighting for that one and only parking lot exit.

Ugh, thank Tyler, for the reminder. lol When we were leaving MK after Wishes last month my mother had a handicapped tag so we parked in that lot and avoided the tram.

Believe it or not I've never used a WDW tram since we usually end up parking fairly close (I'm talking all the visits that I wasn't there with my Mom with use of the handicapped tag) and it was easier to walk and push the stroller instead of loading everything onto the tram.

Sounds like the bus is a good idea assuming that we can get out of Epcot early enough to get back to MK before Wishes. If not, we'll hang around Main Street for the crowds to clear and then take the ferry to the TTC.
