Fast Pass Reservation Question

We leave on Fri 6/9 for Disney. I have to wait till we arrive at Disney to purchase our tickets. Will it be possible to still get fast passes to Soaring and such or should we just plan to hit these rides as soon as the park open?

It will depend on the ride. Soarin' will usually have some same-day availability, but it might be later. Visit the FP+ kiosks and get a CM to help you. Also, once you have your tickets, get the FPs for your entire trip right away. I'm not sure if you have to use your MDE app to do subsequent days, but don't wait. The CM can help you with that too.

The very hard ones to get are going to be Frozen Ever After, 7 Dwarfs Mine Train, Rivers of Light, and the new Avatar stuff, Flight of Passage or Na'vi River Journey. I would say that most other stuff should have at least some availability. Depending on your party size, you can try to break them up into smaller groups with overlapping times. Definitely use Rope Drop to immediately hit anything you can't lock down. Don't stress about it though and have a great time no matter what!

Thanks, mostly interested in Soaring, Tower of Terror, Test Track and Rock N Roll Roll Coaster. Would like to do other things but know have to be flexible with no fast passes and being busy time of year.

Back in October on a Saturday during food and wine festival, I couldn't get a fast pass for soarin or test track for my friend who had to buy a ticket that day. We were both adults so we did soarin first, then test track in the single rider line. Skipped frozen. So personally I wouldn't waste time at the fastpass kiosk, because while you're waiting there, the lines elsewhere are getting longer. Use the app to link your tickets and look for fast passes while you're waiting in line.

Early June isn't an uncommonly busy time of year...there really aren't slow times at WDW anymore. In fact, relatively speaking, early June may be a bit less crowded because northeastern schools haven't let out yet and tour groups haven't started coming in.

For Soarin' (there is no "g" at the end) and ToT you should be able to get same day FP+, but not an absolute guarantee. For Test Track and RnR, I'd say more like 50/50 or less. You may need to be consistent in checking MDE to see if any become available.

Yes, this is good advice. I would NOT go to the FP Kiosk or a CM right at Rope Drop. Use that time to ride one or more of your big rides. After that, if you need assistance setting up your tickets and such, then drop by a kiosk and get a CM to assist. A lot of people will hit these kiosks first too so there could be a line.

Also, I do know that sometimes they will have a CM walking through the pre-opening park entry line asking about Fast Passes. They can help you set up too but this is kind of hit and miss. I have seen where one or two CMs are working the lines, but they take a lot of time with a single party, and they aren't always there.

Don't ever believe the MDE app when it says there are no more FP+ left. I have successfully obtained FP+ for all the rides you mentioned on the same day, even when the app said there weren't any, by just repeatedly refreshing the FP+ selection screen. You may have to refresh dozens of times (it helps if you can sit somewhere for a few minutes), but just keep hitting refresh over and over, and you'll be surprised at the FP+ times that will pop up when it previously said there weren't any. If it shows a time you don't want, take it anyway and then do the refresh thing to modify it to what you want. Examples - one evening at Epcot we decided around 7 PM that we wanted to do Test Track. Of course, MDE said there were no FP+. We were at Sunshine Seasons, so I just sat and refreshed the screen who knows how many times, and, voila, an 8 PM FP+ appears. One morning we went to AK with no FP+ in hand. I like to do the Safari first thing in the morning, so I spent the bus ride refreshing the FP selection screen for the Safari. I first got a time in the late PM, which I took and then refreshed to modify, and I got a FP+ for 9:15 AM. I could give similar examples for the other rides you mentioned. We were a party of 2, which I know helps, as it may be more difficult for larger parties. But you could try for overlapping times with the group split up. I've also gotten FP+ for Illuminations and Rivers of Light late in the day for that evening, just by constantly refreshing. I can't say it will always work for every ride for everyone, but it's certainly worth trying.

Wow, that sure requires quite a level of tenacity.

It does require some effort, but not so much that my family ever felt ignored. It's amazing how many times you can refresh a screen in five minutes (like once every few seconds or so), so it didn't involve extended periods when I was ignoring everything around me. If I didn't get results in a few minutes, I would leave it and try later when the opportunity presented itself. It certainly isn't for everyone, but I just wanted to let people know that it can be done, if they want to try. Everyone has their own touring style that works for them.

Today was 1st day in parks. I was able to get FP to Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear and Tomorrow Land Speedway. Went on Pirates of Carribean ride, standby was listed as 30 mins but wait was 20 min most. Kids were happy to get those in. Have reservations at Ohana at 7pm. After that going to head back to MK and ride Jungle Cruise, possibly visit Mickey and watch the fireworks. Well if stops raining well do fireworks.
Have FP for Test Track tomorrow at 11am, plan on heading to EPCOT early and going straight to Soaring.

HM, BL, TLS, PoC are usually FP's that are available on day of. In fact, several of those you just mentioned end up being my 4th, 5th and 6th FP's if I am in MK all day. :)
