We have FP's for Lion King for a 5:00 PM show. It says we must "Arrive between: 4:30 PM - 4:45 PM" despite the fact that the show STARTS at 5:00. Trouble is we have a meal right before. Will it be a problem if we show up at say 4:50 PM? 4:55 Pm? Its too late to change our ADR and FP, and we dont want to rush through dinner...Anyone ever been in this position and know just how far we can push it?

You may still get into the show showing up at rhe last minute, but the FP is pretty worthless if you don't arrive early. They bring in the FP people first, but then by the time you are describing they are bringing in standby people. There is definitely a good chance you still get in (depending on how crowded of a time you go) but the fast pass doesn't benefit you at that point, and you aren't guarenteed a seat.

You shouldn't count on getting in if you show up late. As the PP stated above, they would be letting the stand by crowd in by 4:50, as they need to get everyone in their seats to start the show at 5.

Where is dinner and at what time?
Tusker House 3:40 PM; I THINK its a very short walk to Lion King (anyone know how long with small kids plus elderly grandparents?), but I didnt want to rush the kids through the characters.

It is a very short walk. They are essentially next to each other. An earlier Tusker house may open up. I usually budget 90 minutes for a character meal. That goes faster if we are the first seating of the day/meal.

if I remember the theater correctly how will kids and grandparents be with climbing steps up to seats? coming after stand by seating starts you will be seated higher up and most likely the handicapped seating will already be taken. one other thing to remember you could be seated later than your time making you arrive after doors close. I would plan on not being seated until 4 which would be cutting it very close. I would not have them that close

If you're showing up after the show FP time then you may not get in. After that window your FP isn't really a guarantee to get you into the show.

It's like showing up to Fantasmic 5 min before the show starts. The FP section is likely to be full and you'll be standby.

If you can't show up at least 20 min prior to showtime, then I'd try to see the LK show prior to dinner or just earlier in the day. It usually starts every hour on the hour. I'd catch the 3pm show then head to Tusker House at 3:40

I hate to say it, but I don't think there is any way for you to make the Lion King. For one, you can't depend on being seated at your ADR time. For another, if you don't wish to rush your meal will probably take longer than you need to allow if you want to make your FP.

Keep trying to change FP for Lion King after the meal. If it doesn't work, then go to the theatre when you finish at Tusker House and wait in stand by line for next show. You don't want to stress during the meal.

First off, you more than likely won't be seated at 3:40. Second, it's a character meal, which can take forever. There is no way you'll be finished before 4:45-5pm. Change the ADR or change the FP.

I would not use a FP for the Lion King show. We were at AK last Tuesday and were able to walk in to the noon show with no problem at all.

We ate at Tusker House in March and they were way behind schedule. We ended up getting seated about 30-40 minutes after our ADR time. It then took about an hour and a half and we still hadn't seen Goofy come to our table so we just left.

This. I've found seats just as good without an FP. And I wouldn't rush through my Tusker House meal just to be able to use an FP that isn't useful anyway. I'd enjoy the meal at my own pace, and catch the show at whatever time of day is convenient for me, without an FP.

It's not too late to modify your dining reservation until you ressie time has come (someone correct me if I'm mistaken). I would recommend trying to modify your reservation repeatedly, to give you an extra 1/2 hour or so. There is not much worse at WDW than needing to rush.

Good luck and ENJOY!

Thanks as usual Cas. I took your advice, but technically it means we will have only 10 minutes to walk to tusker House, are you sure it will be enough time?
