Fast Pass+ ? Do I need to buy tickets before booking FP times?

We're in the planning stages and I was going to book a room only right now. We're trying to firm up plans on WDW and Universal days so I'm waiting to decide on number of days for our WDW tickets. Can I make FP+ reservations before I buy my tickets? I'm guessing no.

I was going to wait to buy tickets later but I'm guessing I need those now.

Can someone clarify that.

Thanks

ok I just found the Fastpass+ info thread (why is that not a sticky?) and I do need ticket media - which is what I thought.

I want to start making FP+ plans but I guess I need to commit to number of days now.

It requires tickets to be purchased. And you have to have the number of days on your ticket for which you need Fastpasses.

So no buying a single day ticket and booking for 2 or more days and upgrading the ticket later, as an example.

Our past two trips (last Feb and last December), we could not purchased until just before. We were still able to get most options for any attraction we wanted except Mine train, Anna and Elsa, and the fireworks and parade viewings.

This may be more of a challenge during busier times. But a bunch of posters tested what we could get Christmas week less than the 30 day window and found similar success a couple of weeks out.

Oh I have a lot to read up on! For some reason I thought the window was 180 days for FP but I'm reading 60 days for onsite. ok I can relax a little!
