Fast pass+ and military tickets

We will be going to Disney with a group of 20 staying on site. Everyone will have tickets ahead of time except the military family. Do they have to wait until they get tickets to reserve fast pass? We will arrive in Orlando 5 days before our reservations start as we will be doing the cruise first. If they purchase tickets before we cruise, do you think we will be able to reserve fast pass at that time rather than at 60 day point. Any suggestions? Also, if I did not ride could my grandchild use my reserved fast pass for that ride if she wears my band?

If they are staying on site they can call and link their salute tickets. We are using the salute tickets and they were easy to link and select fast passes.
