Fast Food Salads (inspired by Jeafl)

Are there any fast food salads out there that have NO iceberg lettuce. I can;t stand that stuff. I do like romain and spinach.

None that I am aware of, Carol. Then again I don't eat salads much ever anymore (can't stomach the roughage) so maybe someone else will know

I eat a lot of salads and I'lve never seen one.

Iceberg lettuce is cheap!

Iceberg is cheaper and stay fresh longer than Boston or Rommaine

This isn't incredibly fast food - but close - do you have an Einstein Bros. bagel near you?

They have great salads - a couple with spinach a great asian chicken salad. I can't promise that their is zero iceberg, but I know it's the mixed greens with a lot of variety. They might have 1 all spinach one.

I've recently tried the Jack in the Box salads (all 3 of them!) and one of the McDonald's salads (California Cobb). None of them are completely iceburg free, but they do have a pretty decent amount of other mixed greens in there. I was particularly impressed with Jacks, it was very fresh, VERY large, and quite tasty. The McDs one was okay, but I was really turned off by the scrambled egg instead of boiled, and it didn't seem as fresh as the Jacks one. There is only a ten cent price difference, and Jack's was a lot more worth it.

McDonald's new salads are spring mix, and are great. I didn't like the dressing forthe cobb salad though, I would have much rather had ranch than the creamy vinegarette.

McD's are ok, but Wendy's or a Chick-fil-a salads are better.

Don't know of any without iceberg, although all of them are doing more of a mix.

Ahutton, just ask for the other dressing. I always do!

I have a better Q why do they ALL come with Chicken?? Not everyone who wants a salad eat meat!!

I agree, I hate the chicken fast food places use in salads.

I like the new McDonalds salads. The best is the ceasar. I had the cobb once and it was way too much BLUE cheese! It was very, very strong. The greens in the salad are a good mix, and you can request whichever dressing you want (they are now Neuman's Own.) You can get crispy or grilled chicken, I have only gotten the lower fat grilled. They also have a bacon/ranch salad which I have not tried. They are much better than the old shaler salads, a better mix of greens and seem fresher to me. I do wish they offered a meatless salad though. Sometimes I like to get a grilled chicken sandwich (no mayo) or a small burger and I used to get a side salad which is no longer available. I think the chicken on the new salads tastes good, it is supposed to be warm. I have had it several times, sometimes it is warm but often it is not (but still good IMO!) Lacee

Wendy's has a Spring Mix salad that is excellent and it does not have chicken on it.

I was just wathcing the news the other day and they were talking about how much fat there are in those salads, yikes! I had the oriental chicken salad from Wendys, it was really good but considering there's so much dressing, nuts, chow mein ect..... I guess they're not THAT healthy! And you're right, they are normally made with iceberg lettuce, which I find yummy but is really not nutritional.

I don't know if you're ever heard of it, but Fazolis, which is a fast food italian place, has salads that have romaine lettuce only. There are some with meat and some without. There is a little side caesar salad that is just romaine lettuce, croutons, and shredded parmesan cheese. You can have caesar dressing tossed in with it, or you can get any dressing on the side. They're $1.39 plus tax.
