I booked our tickets from Richmond to MCO about a month ago and now the tickets are cheaper and they have a better flight available. Am I out of luck? What can I do? Anything?

Thanks and Hugs!;)

You can call the airlines and you will get a voucher for the difference in the fare. As far as the flight change then you would have to pay the $100 change fee or whatever your airline charges to make changes.

Hi,

I would call the airline and nicely say how you've noticed that the price went down on your ticket flight. They usually will give you credit vouchers for the difference. Regarding the other flight that will be almost inpossible to change to without occuring a fee.

We purchased our tkts from NYC to MCO in January for our upcoming May trip and the price went down twice. We were issued vouchers.

tonysgal34, when the price goes down and you have purchased from the airline you can request the difference be put in your account for the next time you buy tickets.

If you buy from a travel website it usually is handled differently.

It must be for the same fare class.

You are issued a credit voucher, for the difference in price. It is valid for one year from the date of issuance for future travel.

All airlines do not handle this in the same manner. It is not an industry rule or standard.

Some airlines will not issue you a credit or voucher, some will.

On Midwest Express the only time this is worth doing is if the difference in fare is more than the charges for changing your flights, they consider this rebooking or changing you flight and will charge the change fee. For example if the fare changed by $40.00 and you changed it it would really cost you $35. because of a $75 change fee.

Most of the time to get a voucher it has to be the exact flight, exact day, exact time and exact fare code. The joker in the deck, more often than not, is the fare code is different than the one you booked, and that means you are out of luck.

Okay, so even if you find a cheaper rate, there's no point in changing your ressies unless you plan to fly again someday, correct?

That pretty much sums it up and the time frame to fly again is usually a year from the date of original purchase.

A friend just got a couple $16 vouchers from USAirways for a price drop. One problem - to use them, you have to present them in person when redeeming them, they said you have to buy your tickets at the airport, not online. She lives over a hour from the airport, so it probably would not be worth it.
