Hi there -

I'm just about to book our hotel for WDW in Oct. '04 but I have a question regarding airfare.

We're leaving on either the Saturday night or the Sunday morning of Columbus Day Weekend and staying a week.

My question is this - Do you think
it'll be cheaper to fly out on a Saturday, on a Sunday or will it not matter at all since it's a holiday?

We'll be flying JetBlue and they don't have their schedule available that far in advance yet.

Thanks a bunch guys!

In general, the cheapest days to fly are Tue-Th and Saturday. Friday and Monday are the most expensive, followed by Sun. Friday nite can be cheap, but usually only when the departure is AFTER 7 pm.

I'm not sure that Columbus Day weekend really qualifies as a holiday, at least in the sense that it is guaranteed to drive fares up or bring blackouts into effect, the way that Thanksgiving or Christmas does, for instance. Columbus Day isn't a federal holiday, most Americans don't get that day off.

The usual rule for true 'holiday' fares is that regardless of what day of the week you're flying, the best prices will be available as far in advance as it is possible to book. The prices go up as the seats fill, and the seats always fill for holidays (unless you are flying ON one of the major holidays; e.g., flights on Christmas Day are very seldom full.)
