Welcome to the DIS, Jenny1225! If scheduled park opening is 9, the early morning hours, whether the regular ones or the ones for little ones, will be at 8. Fantasyland does not open any earlier than the rest of the MK except on those am EMH days. On regular am EMH days, selected attractions open early, including but not limited to Fantasyland. Most people make a beeline for the bigger attractions on those days, like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, etc.
On Little Ones EMH (or LOEMH) days, only Fantasyland opens early--nothing else. But it's not like a regular day in Fantasyland--in addition to the attractions being open, there are a ton of characters out for the little kids. It's a lot different than seeing characters at any other time, because they are not posing for photos or signing autographs. Like candeeapril said, they play games with the kids, go on rides with them, etc. In addition to follow the leader with Peter Pan and Wendy, peekaboo with Eeyore, and a bunch more I can't remember, we rode the caroussel with Goofy and Stitch, and saw several kids ride Peter Pan with Peter Pan and Wendy. We were in the car behind Peter Pan twice, which was close enough for ds, and it was really cool. It's character interaction that you will see nowhere else. If you have little ones, LOEMH really is a not to be missed event.
