Fantasy February 16, 2013 - 7 Night Western Cruise Meet

I agree about the cost of flights being high. We are taking the Autotrain down and then driving home after the cruise. I think we are going to get on the train on Wednesday so we can stay at Cocoa Beach before the cruise. :)

Now that most of us are over the airfare shell shock, I have some FE questions. This is my first time doing the FE. I have ideas and I want to get started on making some stuff.
I am personally doing this for my kids. I don't expect anything for the adults in my room. But I am happy to share with adults if that is the norm?
As we get closer to the cruise will the list be divided by floor or section or will we do it for everyone?
Do we do something for everyday or as many as we want?
I am the type of person that really tries to consider the person that I am giving stuff to. So I feel that one thing I might have for kids is not appropriate for adults so I would have something else for the adults. Same thing with different ages of girls and boys.

Am I putting TOO MUCH thought into this?

In each of the FE's I've participated on, I have always given to each person in the cabin. Some people give one gift per cabin, some per person in the cabin. Some do multiple gifts per cabin over a few days. Some people make their FE gifts, some buy them. I've seen some really creative ones. Some are personalized. I have found that there don't seem to be any expectations other than every cabin on the list gives to every cabin on the list.

The last FE I organized had over 75 staterooms participating. I did give the option of breaking into a smaller group and 15 cabins chose that option. Most of the other 60 cabins gave to everybody, including the people in the small group with no expectation of reciprocity. They liked the challenge and figured the more the merrier.

anyone thinking of excursions yet? my daughter wants to swim with dolphins and I would like to go to Mr. sanchos and maybe see the turtles. anyone have any information about the excursions?

When we were on the Fantasy MV we did swim with the dolphins in Grand Cayman which included a turle experience too. I would recommend the Grand Cayman swim over the one in Costa Maya. We did the Dolphin Extreme swim and turtle farm. There was a little girl of about 6 or 7 in our group and she did fine with the dolphin belly ride and boogie board push.

Hi :wave2: and :welcome: aboard!

Thanks for that tip, it helps with my question: anyone have a favorite among the Mayan ruins excursions? I want to get the best experience I can, and will probably only get the family to go to one. I really want to get the best bang for the buck, and more specifically don't want to spend an inordinate amount of time on a bus bumping through the jungle.

Are there going to be any a single parent on the cruise? I am a single Dad and Im going with a few married couples and dont want to be the third wheel the entire cruise. I have a son and a daughter 8 and 12 respectively. Just planning ahead....

We did this on our first cruise on the Magic some years back, and I'm sorry I don't remember what the ruins were called (I will have to go home to check).

It was pretty neat, and you really won't get a chance to do that back home, but I have a couple of tips:

- It will likely be very sunny and hot, so be prepared with sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, and comfortable walking shoes. Bring your own water, too.

- Our tour said "includes lunch" but it turned out it was a Subway sandwich! My husband got the best deal; when we got back to the village, the rest of us were souvenir shopping while he went and had himself some local food. He said the food was awesome -- much better than a Subway sandwich. They don't feel you snacks or anything so make sure to grab some fruit and munchies to pack in your bag! And water.

Thanks for the Facebook page. our last cruise the teens started a dis page. It was great. My 15 year old daughter made some friends before the cruise and hung out with them on the cruise. Does anyone have and teens they think might like to do that? also there was a page for pre teens

My oldest daughter will be 16, I will definitely have her check out the FB page, great idea!

Booked our flights last night! I recall that there were a few families from Buffalo on the cruise - not sure if you've booked yet? We live near Rochester, but are flying out of Buffalo. We're going down on Southwest Thursday morning and back on Airtran Saturday night, both nonstop. It came to around $350 each, which we are very pleased with.

Hi my family would like to join the fish extender list - if its not too late :confused3

We are a family of four DH, ME DD (14) DS (12) we are booked in cabin 8664

We are flying out of Buffalo on Friday night and back Saturday afternoon. I have to work Friday so had to fly out in the evening therefore did not want to wait and risk it so we are on US Airways and it was $600 each. Ugh!
