Fantasy February 16, 2013 - 7 Night Western Cruise Meet

Well, it looks like we're driving! I really hate making that drive! Especially during the winter months! Oh well....It will save us about $1000 with this outrageous airfare! But now I might have to take more time off of work. :worried:

We'll JetBlue was MUCH :scared1: more expensive then we thought it would be, but for our flight times, it was only slightly more than SouthWest, and getting to Providence is a real hassle from where we are; so we bit the bullet on this.

I think JetBlue will give a credit if prices drop (they have in the past), so hopefully we can get something back on this.

But anyway, it's exciting to have our tickets. We spent the rest of the day looking at the islands and ship board activities.

Looks like we'll be driving too. Where are you driving from?

Jetblue prices are higher than SW!! And of course SW has gone up since I waited for Jetblue to release these dates. I already booked SW for the trip down, but not sure if I should just book SW at the current price or wait a few more days??? They went up $60/person for the return flight I wanted. :(

My SWA return flight leg has gone up $81 since I purchased last Monday. I am working under the idea these fares are never coming back down...but with the acceptable risk that if they do, I will probably be able to use the travel funds credit before July 16 2013 (which is when they would expire for my purchase).

I took a look at the JetBlue fares this morning and I was very glad I bought SWA a week ago.

Hello jetblue released tickets for that week yesterday 7/22/12 at 12pm. They are expensive. If you hurry and get AA flights they just went down. Im flying 2/15 and returning 2/24.
hope this helps

I have been eyeing fares since we booked in March. Trying to wait on Jetblue, and so happy I did. I got great rates with AA. AA went down in price Sunday morning from Saturday morning. I got our tickets and I know it was a great deal $360 round trip pp.
I can't wait!!!!!

Hi Everyone -

I had stumbled across the SWA date this weekend -- and was able to book this morning, but while I was discussing the flights with my husband the return flight increased $36 :( Later in the day I noticed the flight down went up by $120 (glad I booked when I did)

Happy planning everyone and good luck in securing your flights! :goodvibes

Just a word of warning with American Airlines, the travel insurance companies will not provide coverage for financial default. If they cease operations you could potentially lose a lot of money.

You guys could come down and follow us, I'm sure between Shawn's driving and Junior's driving we could be at the port in like 13 hours! :rotfl2:

Ouch that would leave a huge mark, doesn't regular travel insurance cover that?

I went ahead and booked Southwest for the return flight as well. The less expensive flight that had gone up had 1 stop and I prefer Nonstop unless there's a BIG price difference. The Nonstop flight only went up $5/person and is now less expensive than the other flight. I kept it under $500/person, and Southwest allows 2 checked bags/person so no other fees. It's a lot, but I'm happy with that considering it is President's Week! Oh, and of course, talking DH into going down on 2/13 really made this all worth it for me. Saved money on the flight but we'll spend a lot more than that difference in Disney, which is what I wanted to do all along. Spending Matthew's 6th Birthday in Disney instead of on a plane!! Hmmm :scratchin, have I mentioned that already?! :cool1:

Everything depends on the policy, of course, but I always buy my insurance from Allianz (formerly Access America) and sell a lot of Travel Guard policies. The policies I deal with cover financial default, but not for carriers that are already in financial trouble. AA filed for bankruptcy last year. If you buy airline tickets from an airline known to be in financial trouble, the travel insurance companies won't cover your loss if the airline shuts down.

eta: This goes for any supplier known to be in financial trouble. The insurance companies have a list of suppliers they will not provide financial default coverage for.

I looked at JetBlue yesterday also. WoW, JFK to MCO for a party of 4 (round trip) over $3,000.00 :scared1: . For that money I can book a vacation to Punta Cana or Mexico. I'll definitely be driving now :drive: (for the 1st time to florida).

Hey try looking every morning feb15-feb24 family of 4 is just 1458.00 on AA.

Was on Main Street USA when the prices for Jet Blue came out and was having issues pulling them up on my iPhone but later got them up when we went back to the resort and :scared1: OMG!!!!!!! I looked SWA and Delta and I almost passed out... It would cost more for 4 to fly from Hartford then the cost of the cruise with a Balcony!!!!!

One of the itineraries put me going from Hartford to San Juan then to Orlando..

We survived the Drive down and the drive home we left right when I wanted to on Thursday the 12th at 7:00pm had some traffic due to an accident near Co-Op City other than that made it down no problems into Jacksonville around 11 am. Stopping for breakfast at South of the Border.

Driving home we left Yesterday at 10:30am and arrived in Clinton CT at 7am

The worst part we wanted to get gas at Vince Lombardi but we ended up getting off the "Arena" exit as the signage was confusing small "arena" sign next to a huge gas prices sign and another rest area sign with a little arrow.. Didn't help it was 5 in the morning also... circled that for a while finally got back on 95 I am afraid to see my ezpass account for that mistake.

So here comes our problem my wife is a teacher so she can't get out until 2:30 on Friday that is risking it in July but were talking Feb

So options are to grin and bear the prices and fly I even looked flying out of PVD and JFK

Kids and I driving down leaving Friday around 3am and pick up my wife either at JAX or MCO that night having her fly down alone after school gets out and all 4 of us drive home after we get off the boat

I drive with the kids to VA on friday hop on the Auto Train then have my wife fly in sat am into MCO or another airport and drive to the port for the 3 of us the auto train would be $386

Lots to think about in next few days... But now need to go log on to my PhotoPass + page and remember last weeks magic :hyper: BTW was worth pre-purchasing PhotoPass+

Last I checked fares out of LGA were cheaper than JFK going down on Friday. I think it was $269

:confused3
i don't why no one is listening family a 4 through AA is only $1486.00

We are in for this cruise! Just booked it - still waiting on all the confirmations back from our TA.

I'm not even thinking about Air Fare yet...will wait until Jet Blue and Southwest put out their itineraries which they don't do until about 6 months before. Out of Boston is outrageous so we will probably go out of Manchester (NH) unless Providence (now with Jet Blue service) comes in at a good price.

This is our 2nd Disney cruise. We did WC in April 2011 on the Magic. We are super pumped to be going on the Fantasy for Feb vacation. I am going on a quickie Norweigan cruise out of Miami in September with my 2 best friends for our ahem, 40th but I am SO excited about hitting the DCL again!

Yea us!!

( I think I need to update my signature again)
