We will be on a Fantasy sailing soon and we have a family member who is very sensitive to sudden loud noises. Are there any explosions or pyrotechnics in the nighttime entertainment onboard?

Most of the shows in the Walt Disney Theater tend to be quite loud, with some strobe lighting effects. The shows outside, while there are some such effects, it's not as bad due to not being in an enclosed space. The further from the stage (outside) the better.

Continuous loudness usually isn’t as much of an issue. I was hoping to find out if there is a specific point in a show (like a sudden explosive sound) that she can prepare for. Maybe a description of the scene right before it occurs? I know that is a very particular question…

Sorry, I can't point to specific spots in any given show. I'd suggest you look up and see if you can find any youtube Disney Fantasy Walt Disney Theater shows and review them. That might help.

There are certainly loud noises and pyrotechnics during the pirate show, just before the fireworks on pirate night.

This is a good idea. OP, the shows on the Fantasy are Aladdin, Frozen, and Believe.

Also, be aware the ship's horn can be quite loud, especially if you are on the top deck. Usually they do so after the captain's announcements midday, and they'll let you know it's coming, but they also do it leaving port, and I cannot remember it that is announced or not.

Also the safety drill is very loud on embarkation day, but you will get plenty of warning. Maybe bring ear muffs for your child and deploy them when you know it's going to be extra loud.
