I don’t automatically say length of cruise or ship is better. It depends on what fits into your family’s comfort zone and needs for this vacation.
I started with a 3-night, followed by a 4-night on
DCL. I have done a 1-night cruise and 25 nights straight on the Disney Magic. They all filled needs and wants.
Yes, 3 nights left us wanting more cruising. But we liked it. If your family is not happy by Day 4, that extra $400 may not buy you that extra happiness.
Does Port Canaveral v. Fort Lauderdale for airport impact your decision? And the proximity of airport to port?
Wish has lots of smaller pools for the family.
Dining: many people feel the Wish’s quick service offerings were an improvement. If nothing else, it is additional variety.
Does anyone have sensory issues? Some dining rooms are louder, more chaotic.
How do you feel about staying at a new Disney resort versus an older one? It would matter to some. That’s sort of Wish v. Fantasy.
Shows (evening entertainment): (not my descriptions. And I would never have described Believe as they do.)
- Disney Fantasy
- Frozen: A Musical Spectacular. Lots of puppets and projections, as well as some obligatory fake snow.
- Disney’s Aladdin. A shortened version of the film story.
- Disney’s Believe. A jukebox-style show that tells about a daughter’s relationship with her botanist father.
- Disney Wish
- Disney Seas the Adventure. Goofy takes the helm of the ship and gentle mayhem ensues.
- The Little Mermaid. As if a community theater troupe put on a version of the live-action film.
