We didn't take our kids to Fantasmic our last trip; I thought it might scare them. They were 4,4, almost 3 at the time.

We're planning another trip for this upcoming September--kids will be 5,5 almost 4 and I'm not sure if we should take them or not. Is it mostly the loud noises that scare the little ones? I'm bringing ear plugs, so that should hopefully help with the loud booms, etc. Or is it the show itself that's scary, with the villians? Maybe a combo of the two? I should add that my son does scare easily--would it be best to just plan to skip this one?

Many people have different opinions about Fantasmic. I find it scary. Our boys were 11 and 8 and we felt as adults that there were scary things for them and us! However, we don't celebrate the scary part of Halloween; the kids don't like the Haunted Mansion either. We don't watch scary movies.

I think that parts of the show are well done, and we reminded the boys that good was going to win etc. I didn't want them having nightmares at Disney, so I am glad we waited until they were older before they first saw the show.

I just saw it last night....and it was way better than I remember!

As for scary..the part with the villans is scary. It's like lots of smoke and a giant snake appears, or fireworks and smoke and a giant dragon appears. That being said, we sat by a family with a prob. 3 year old who was just in awe of everything, looked a bit scared at some points, but LOVED it! it seems like the scary parts are over fast enough for most kids to be ok.

my vote would be to sit way in the back if you decide to go! up front you get wet from the water and there is a part with fire..up front it is pretty hot, and probably a bit scary for some kids.

whatever you decide, enjoy!

I say give it another try!

My middle child has always scared easily. The dark, loud booms, and frightening music on lots of rides made him uneasy. We tried it our first trip when my son had just turned 4 and it scared him badly. We actually left during the show.

The next year he had just turned 5 and he loved it! We were a little afraid to try it but agreed that if it scared him we would get up and walk away. I kinda talked him through some of the parts too so he'd undestand what was happening.

Just be flexible and follow his lead. Have a great trip!!

My 5's loved it! They jumped up on the bench and cheered for Mickey!

Last time we went, my girls were 2, 4 and 5, and they loved it! (they loved it the two trips before too) They are VERY noise sensitive, so they covered there ears during the loud parts, but it was, and will always be one of our favorites. We even have a DVD of the show, since it was all they could talk about, and we watch it all the time.
