Hi!

I am a lurker but read here often. We are planning our trip for January and I am curious about Fantasmic. We have been to WDW a few times, but have never been to Fantasmic at MGM. I have three children ages 2-7. Is this scary for them? Do I even have a chance to get tickets for this so late notice? What is the cost of the tickets, etc. I have booked quite a few ADR's on your recommendations so any help would be greatly appreciated! :earsboy:
Thanks in advance!

Jo

Hi Joey,
We'll be there in January too!! We saw Fantasmic in May, with our 2, 4, and 6 yr olds. *I* thought it was too scary for them, but they loved it!! It definitely has a happy ending, so that tends to override the scare factor, I guess. You don't need tickets for it, but you can get guaranteed entrance by booking the Fantasmic Dinner package. We did the package at the Hollywood Brown Derby, so we had an EARLY dinner (like 4 pm! Skipped lunch for it!!) and then got a pass that told us when and where to go for Fantasmic to get the guaranteed seating.

In January it may not be necessary ... perhaps others who have been more than once could help out with that part.

There are some scary parts to Fantasmic! but we've always been able to keep the younger ones calm through it. There aren't separate tickets for Fantasmic (though a small portion of the theater is set aside for folks on a dinner package) -- you just need park admission. There have been a few times where arriving 45 minutes prior helped keep the family together. If you're okay with splitting up, then in January you probably don't have to worry about that.

As far as I know it's included with admission to MGM, I've never been either but are planning it this time around. I belive you have to wait about an hour before the show strats to get in it. I don't think it's too scary but I'd be interested in finding out as well.

A related question: Does anyone know where we can buy stadium cushions? Sitting on those hard seats for an hour is hard on the aging rump, and the cold (in January) doesn't help!

Thank you all so much for your advice! I decided to go ahead and book reservations at Mama Melrose's! I remember that last time we went we were disappointed that we didnt' see the show, so I didn't want to make the same mistake twice. We are on the dining plan so it worked out great!! Thanks again. :wave2:

We have seen this show many times starting when my youngest who is 5 was 1.5. He loved it every time. This year he even asked if we could go to it again, as we didn't the last time we were there. He loves the big dragon. I say sit on an end if you can so that if you need to leave you can!

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I thought I had read something like this somewhere :confused3

We are going in January, but I want to make sure we curve our waiting in line as much as possible. Any little bit helps w/two kiddos (4 and 5...will be turning six during our WDW experience!)

We always just get there an hour or more before it starts and never have a problem. Although one time, half of our family was inside and we were going on TOT. By the time we got off the ride, we literally had to run to make it in and they cut it off right after us. Fantasmic does have some scary parts but it is a really cool show and definitely something to be seen at least once.

bicker: I would look at MC SPorts or some place like that for seat cushions

Jo - if any of your kids do get scared (my DGrD did when she was a baby -and cried) you can take them up to the back of the theater and stand in the standing zone - it's a lot farther away and less intimidating - I did this at the end of August and there were only a few other parents with scared kids back there with us (only problem is that you have to stand - no benches up there) - should be less crowded in Jan, too - at the end of the show we just waited for the rest of the family to meet us there - Enjoy !
