We leave for WDW in 14 Days!!!! We are travelling with my two sons ages 4 and just short of 10. My older son wants to see all of the night shows this time and we told him we will do our best. Here is my question....Is Fantasmic very scary for the little ones? I have heard it is such a good show but don't want to scare my younger son to pieces. Any thoughts or ideas would be great. Also any experience from parents who have taken a 4 year old to this show would be great:)

Thanks in Advance
Kathy

My dd is 4 and she went when she was 2 going on 3 and then 3 going on 4. She loved it BOTH times. It's loud and dark and spooky in some places, but it's an outdoor ampitheatre which is good. My dd was FREAKED OUT in the dark rides. She lost her MIND during Philharmagic the first time we were at MK, but the next year she was fine. The thing about Fantasmic is that it has a really great ending, which is what kids need to see. If your ds is scared of loud noises, it might spook him a little.

you will just have to take him and see every child is different mine was scared to death his dad had to walk him out.

I don't think that your four year old will be scared. It's a pretty good show, but would be nicer if tons of people weren't packed into a tight ampitheater with so-so views.

Thanks everyone....I guess we will just try it and see what happens. We cancelled meals last year because my younger son just didn't want the characters anywhere near him. This year we are going to Chef Mickey's because he said he needs to eat breakfast with him and give Mickey a hug and a kiss. Hopefully with the year behind him he will be ready for more interaction this time. I guess worse case scenario my DH or myself will take him out of the theater.

We were made the "magic family" on 7/5 and received VIP seating for Fantasmic and DD4 loved it--we all did! My suggestion would be to sit in the center at least 3/4 of the way up because with the heat from setting the lagoon on fire it may get pretty hot plus you can still feel the mist from the show blow on you and you get an unobstructed view!

My DD4 is adventurous she isn't afraid of much(except Stitch trying to escape of course) and counted "the car ride" as her favorite (Test Track)

DS turned 4 two days before we saw Fantasmic, and he loved it! There were a couple of parts where he covered his eyes, but the ending was just wonderful and made up for the scary parts. He wanted to see it again, but unfortunately it was our last night there. :sad1:

It's not scary, and your 4 year old probably won't be scared. If you're worried, try to sit farther back, and when something spooky happens, hug him tight!

I took 3 1/2, 6 and 9 year olds. I think your kids would be fine with the "fright factor", but do realize it's late at night, you have to wait a long time to get in and fight for a seat (and we went at a SLOW time), and then deal with chaos leaving.

In my opinion, it's just not worth it (with kids). I didn't even like the show that much!

We just got back and my DD4 loved it a lot. I did prepare her by telling her it would get scary with the "bad guys" coming out but that it wouldn't hurt or come near her. We made a deal that she would close her eyes and hug me if she felt like she needed to look away, so she did that during a few of the most intense times of the show, but she surprised me by fairly quickly opening her eyes and looking, too.

She even said later in our trip that she wanted to go again!

And my little one is not a daredevil at all. She cried (briefly) during the Little Mermaid show at MGM, and she went on but disliked Soarin', Test Track, and Goofy's Barnstormer, but Fantasmic was great for her.

I really think my beforehand preparation helped her a lot here. Plus, unless you are right in front (which we avoided because I didn't want to get wet), the action is so far removed that it's not as frightening.
