Has anyone gotten the Fantasmic seating with the meal? Which of the 3 restaurants is the best choice? How far in advance should a priority seating be booked?

I would appreciate any advice or help on this topic.

Thanks!

We went in Nov. and did the package at Mama Mel Rosie at MGM. It was a very good dinner--we actually went back the next day for lunch because dh and I and both the kids enjoyed it so much. The amount of food for the package is very much! They gave us a choice of appetizer, a field green salad, and an entree. I think the kids got pasta. I also think dessert was included but we didn't take it. We felt like we were cutting it close on time and wanted to head up to the show area. The only problem was that this rest. is at the farthest corner away from where Fatasmic is shown. So if you go, you need to allow time to walk all the way back there. We did not realize that when we booked it. A friend of ours had told us about the package and highly recommended this rest. and that is why we choose it.

We had been to the Brown Derby before for lunch--it was okay--i remember my dd not liking her lunch so that's why i didn't want to go back. The other rest. is Hollywood and Vine--never been there so no opinion. Is it a buffett? Those two are better located. Good luck and write back if you any questions. Oh---we made our reserv. around 60 days prior and they do take a credit card # to hold the PS and will charge if you don't cancel within a certain amount time prior to the PS. If you know sooner when you want the PS, i would make it--especially if you are going during a busy time of the year. Have fun!

We are doing the one at Hollywood & Vine in 6 weeks so I will let you know. It is a buffet. It will be our first time at MGM, so I am very excited. We actually chose Hollywood & Vine because kids under 3 eat free, because it is a buffet, so it saves us extra money. When you are in disney, every little bit counts!!!!!

We did Hollywood and Vine for dinner. It was a buffet and not the best at WDW...but I think it is probably the easiest of the three to get reservations for.

Thanks for the responses. Blaze I will look forward to your post when you get back.

How was the seating for Fantasmic?

If I understand this correctly, there are packages for dinner and fantasmic at mgm? where can I get more info on this. I've heard this is a not to miss show, and hard to get into, so I'll take any advantages I can...thanks for the info!

Yes, I read about it on one of the websites but I couldn't find a lot of specifics. I know there are several restaurants you can choose from, there is a set price, and there are seats for Fantasmic included. Some of the restaurants were mentioned above.

I am hoping someone will post some more specific information shortly.

We have seen Fantasmic three times, twice with the dinner package, both times with dinner at Mama Melrose's. Once, years ago, we didn't make it into Fantasmic because of crowds and that's why we went with the dinner package the next two times. When we went in early November, we weren't concerned if we got into it or not, so we took our chances without the dinner package, and it worked out fine.

Seating with the package, in my opinion, isn't that good. The seats are off to the side, facing the stage, they are on the right. However, I only say that because this last time we had center stage high up seats and they were magnificent, and these were just "walk in" seats.

It is a long long walk exiting MGM after Fantasmic, and the dinner package seats are on the best side for exiting the area.

It's a great show, but I think it would be scary for young folks, who don't yet know that Mickey wins the war! If your child doesn't like Snow White's ride, I don't think this would be good.

Are the dinner packages available all the time? We will be there at Easter when the crowds will be very big.. thinking this would be good.

Does anyone know?

Me again--the seating for the package was on the right hand side and it was fine for us. We sat down within 1/2 hr of the show; got to do "the wave" (kids loved it!) and had a nice dinner too. Yes --sitting in the center would have been great--but sitting there for an hour--not with 2 little kids, I wasn't. The view was adequate. Any other ?'s

Thanks Del! That's just the advice I needed. I think we are going to go for it. Now we just have to decide which restaurant. I have until March anyway, but my friend and I are major planners and I think we are more excited than our kids. Haha!

we did the fantasmic package last june and would do it again. We did Hollywood and Vine because its the cheapest of all the resturants and with kids its just easier for us to eat at buffets. The seats were on the far right, but that was fine with us. You might want to check out the resturant boards because there is a lot of good information about the fantasmic package over there.

We did the fantasmic package in 2001 at Hollywood and Vine and it was some of the best food we had at a buffet. We really found something for everyones taste!!

Thanks for the tip on the restaurant board. I couldn't believe how many pages of info were there. I also went to allears as someone suggested and there was a lot of info there also.

As always, DISers come through with help.

We do the dinner package every time that we go to MGM. We have done all the resturants, but like Brown Derby the best. Great food, Great service, Great atmosphere.

We did the Fantasmic package in August with dinner at Hollywood and Vine. It was a buffet, and the food was pretty good with lots of choices. My only problem with this package was that I thought we had good "reserved" seats, so we took our time getting there after dinner. By the time we arrived, the reserved seats were all gone and we were at the very end of the row on the far right. (This did help us when it was time to go, as it was the end closest to the exit!) My advice - still get there early if possible... and enjoy the show - it's great!

We chose to eat buffet at the Hollywood and Vine for the Fantasmic dinner package (6 of us). We had already eaten character breakfast there that morning and it was so good we went back for more. The buffet was all you could eat and the food was one of the best meals I've ever eaten in Florida, certainly the best I've had at Disney, we all agreed on that. This, followed by the superb Fantasmic show made a great end to a fantastic day.

I'm glad to hear the good reviews of Hollywood & Vine! We'll be there in November and plan on doing the Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic package. I researched it a lot, so for those of you looking for more info, here it is ;) :
The Fantasmic dinner packages are currently available at three restaurants -- Brown Derby $39.99 adult, 9.99 child, includes choice of appetizer, entree, and dessert; Mama Melrose $28.99 adult, 9.99 child, includes flatbread appetizer, family style salad, choice of entree & dessert; Hollywood & Vine $19.99 adult, 9.99 child, all you can eat buffet. Package includes dinner & passes to get into a special reserved seats for Fantasmic that same night. The reserved seats are to the far right of the theater, and I've heard mixed reviews on their position. There's a special entrance you use so you don't have to wait in line with the non-package people, but it's still recommended that you show up 30 to 45 minutes befor the show. So, make sure you make the PS's early enough to eat and get to teh show 30 - 45 minutes early! PS's for the package can be made through WDW-DINE just like any other PS's, just make sure you tell the CM you want the Fantasmic Package when making the PS's. Hope that helps!

Hi there,

We have done the Hollywood and Vine package a few times, mostly when they had characters at the restaurant. The food is good, lots to eat lots of variety, CM's were helpful and the place looked the part.

The only minor! gripe was the seats at the theatre, you enter the special line through a set of large gates just past the "fake" garage on the entrance to MGM, then, you are left with a quiet walk of 2000 yards on a slight incline to the theatre, which has 9000 seats. It is there you are shown into the special area which is on the right of the stage, great for leaving the theatre but only OK as a view.

Regards
