I would love to see Fantasmic, but I'm not sure if I should book the package. I won't be on the dining plan this day so it seems like a lot of money. Can we eat at Pizza Planet and wait in line for Fantasmic or should I just book the package? Are the lines just too long?

Please help :worship:

We booked a package because the thought of waiting for anything longer than about 45 mins (and even that is pushing it) with 3 small tired children scared the wits out of me.

I could only get the Hollywood and Vine though which wasn't my first choice but we haven't tried it so another one to strike of the list once we have been.

Depending on the time of year, some people wait up to 2 hours. However, if you're going during a slower time of year...or if there are two shows and you can go to the later one, then you should be ok without waiting that long (head there 45-60 min. before showtime.) You definitely don't need the package to get in, but sometimes it helps with the wait...they still suggest that you arrive 30-45 min before even with the package.

I personally wouldn't wait in the regular line to see a first or only show. Tried that once and it was enough for me. Talk about cheek to cheek! The 2nd time I saw it I was with my then 84yo father, and aunt/uncle in their late 70s. They were all on scooters and they took us right on in without waiting in line..we arrived pretty late. This time I've got my DGD7 and I booked for the package. However, dinner at 3:30 in the afternoon is really going to conflict with our touring habits of afternoon rest at the resort. I'm watching, and if they schedule a 2nd showing, I'm going to cancel the package and just go to the 2nd. Playing it ear.

Another option could be to get food from CS or something, and then eat that whilst you wait for the show to start?

We will be there in Sept. so hopefully the wait won't be too bad. I agree eating dinner at 3:30 p.m. will hurt our plans. Plus I don't care for any of the restaurants in the packages. I guess we will hope for the best. :lovestruc

I would never go without the package. We were just there and we couldnt figure out why people were lined up all the way to the hat. We had to ask someone and he said they were waiting for Fantasmic. it was 5:45 and the show didnt start til 7:30!:scared1:
I love H&V. We had reservations at 4:50. We didnt sit down til 5. So it was a usual dinner time. We go have a good dinner and then poke around abit. And while everyone else has waited forever.. we headed over at 7:10, grabbed our seat and was happy. While the other side of the stadium looked like people were stacked like sardines!
LOVE THE PACKAGE!;)

Eat in line!! Make it fun!! Grab "ice cream" first and then walk to get your pizza/burgers. Bring them in line with you and make yourself a nice little picinic?

I also would not go without the package. It is so much easier than waiting in line for 1-2 hrs before the show ever starts. I cannot go during the slow season so its always what is the easier and better option for me and the almost grown brats. Well one is grown. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

We have done it both ways. We use to just stand on line but since they cut back on the amount of shows meant more people trying to see the same showing. So, we started booking the package. Last year we ate at Hollywood and Vine and our wait was minimal for the show, about 40 minutes(we wanted front row seats so chose to get on line a little earlier). The package is also offered with Mama Melrose.

To be fair, I don't know if Disney has added shows since then, but if not, I would not chance waiting on a line for 2 hours.

Maybe the time I stood waited for the show it was extra busy, but, I can't imagine how a person would be able to eat. When we did it there wasn't a line but a whole bunch of people crammed into that wider pathway. I'm just curious. I can't see enough room for a picnic and just standing holding your food in that crowd seems impossible to me. People suggest it all the time tho, so it must be doable?
