Fantasmic package question

OK.....don't think I am crazy for asking this....................

We always go at off times, low crowds, such as September, early November, or early December. I have never had to book a Fantasmich dinner package before because crowds at the show have never been an issue. We have never had trouble getting good seats. This will be our first trip in October. I have read that crowds are moderate. For my dates in October, the calendar is listing each DHS night with two Fantasmic showings so I knew that they are expecting higher crowds than our normal trip dates. I do know that Disney experts (DISers, UOG, TGM, etc.) recommend the second show for smaller crowds. I planned to do that. However, I did book the Mama Melrose Fantasmic Dinner package to make sure I could get seats. I just read on the Theme Park Board that this package is only good for the first show! Is that correct? If so, maybe I should cancel it and just wing it for the second show. I had counted on riding a few things while the first show is going on and then watching the second show. I can't rely on my Fantasmic package for the second show???

No, the Fantasmic Package is only good for the first show. We went last year the first week of September and went to the second show. We had to wait in line 45 minutes before they opened it up (they were still cleaning from the previous show). The show started late because of the amount of people going in.

So I guess I should call and cancel the ADR for the package. I think we would prefer the second show and just wait for it.

Actually, in the last year, I have read that a few people on the DIS were able to use their Fantasmic package voucher for the second show.

I would call Disney to ask them and see what they say.

You are correct. I should just call and ask WDW. If they will let me use it for the second show, that will be perfect! I don't understand why they would limit it to the first show anyway. :confused3

We asked that very question a few vacations ago. They told us that it is only good for the first show. We never did see if there was anyone at the gate for the second show. I assumed that the restaurant was providing us with correct info.

So I think on our next vacation, I will go and see if anyone is at the other gate for the second show.

Thank you for this information.

I wonder why it makes a difference to them which show it is. It shouldn't matter. IMO, they should let us use it for either show.
I just don't know what to do. I told DH that I would cancel it if it is good for only the first show. He told me to keep it because we might be ready to go after the first show. He said we can always stay for the later show and not use it if we feel like it that day. Or we can opt to use the pass for the first show.
I don't know..........

Well, here is my story about the Fantasmic show reservations. When I called and made the ADR at Hollywood and Vine they booked me for a 5:30 dining with seat voucher for the second show. THEN as we were eating they came over to the table and told us that we had to finish eating and RUN to the back gate in order to get in in time for the seating.

The manager actually had an employee RUN us over to the back gate entranceso they would still let us in because the voucher has the time on there that you are supposed to meet to get in.

We ran and ran and ended up just getting to sit in the very back, which was still a great view, just as the show was starting.

I was NOT happy to say the least. SO.......I would call MAMA Melrose directly to see if you can have second showing. I think I am still out of breath from scarfing down my meal and running like a fool.........

Wow, maj42169, that is horrible! I cannot understand why they force you to see the first show if there are two shows available. Why does it matter to them which show you attend??? I will ask MM and see if there is anyway we can do the second show. It doesn't hurt to ask.......I guess.
I have a 5:00 ADR. The 5:30 slot was booked.

The vouchers we got last year were printed specifically stating it is for the first show only. In order to use the voucher they let you into a sperate entrance with CMs guiding you the whole way. To allow the voucher for the second show would mean staffing that process. I can't see Disney doing that for some stagglers, it was a team of CMs, not just one person.
