Hey,
First visit to hollywood studios (one day), Fantasmic is 8:30 and Galactic is 9pm if the timing doesnt allow seeing both, which one should we do? (9, 7 and 4 yr old.)
Ty.

is your family fans of SW or more of Disney characters? Will everyone sit through a 30 min. show after holding a spot for about 30-45min? do they like projections, lasers, fire effects with fireworks more than a story driven show?

Agree with this.

Timing would allow you to do both, but you'd have to leave Fantasmic as the finale is finishing, or sit right by the theater exit...then move pretty quickly to Star Wars. If you don't want to do that, then the above are points to consider on which one to do.

We think Fantasmic is a much better show. Not even close, hands down.

We've seen Fantasmic every trip, and Star Wars only once. We're seeing Fantasmic again in July, sitting in our favorite spot, and staying until the end.

If you don't mind spoiling it for yourself, as a sacrifice to your family, you can see both on youtube and then decide. Or even the first few minutes of each, to get a taste.

Would you be willing to share where your favourite spot is? Do you find good seating just by going standby? Curious to know, because I'm trying to squeeze Fantasmic in to our plans, but have read some comments about the FP+ seating area being actually not good. I'm not super excited about any of the restaurant options for the Fantasmic dining package, either, plus they're all very expensive paying OOP. So, considering just going standby, but I have no idea how hard it is to get seating going standby ...

I would wait and then try to get a Fantasmic! FP for later in the day. There are so many that it is usually not a problem. What an FP for the show actually gives you, to quote @Robo, is more choice in seating. One half of the non-dining package seating is for FP and the other is for standby. They both fill all the way to the edges, which are considered the worst seats, so you still need to get there early regardless. If you enter with FP and the better seats are in standby, you can just go to that section instead, but without a FP you can't jump from the standby side. It just depends really and they both fill in pretty well.

OP, I think Fantasmic! is a better show, and that's coming from a huge SW fan. The SW show is great though, so either will be fun. If it makes a difference, F! has seating and you can sit as you wait (and not on the ground like people do for SW).

If you go here, and scroll down a bit, you'll see a map of the amphitheater. It'll make it easier to see what I'm talking about:

We get the dining package. We always do a table service meal, anyway, as that's our way to take a nice long relaxing break. So, we sit in "Mickey." We like sitting about 7 rows back. First few rows are too low, I think, and you have to look up a bit, which is less comfortable. Around row 7, you really can see the characters on the boats really well, and as close as possible to the action on the island stage.

Without a package, you can see from the map, FP and stand by really makes no difference in terms of the view you get. But, FP guarantees you a seat in the section.

Where you want to sit is in front of the water screens, as opposed to between two screens - which would give you an angled view of both, and not ideal. The water screens also hide the set changes, so seeing between them kills some of the illusion.

So, you would want to sit close to the isle between Witch and Ursala in stand by, or near the isle between Jafar and Hades on the FP side. You can see the water screen projection machinery in the maps. Of course, by the isle close to Mickey, on either side, works best, as that will put you in front of the center screen. But, those seats are the hardest to get. Still about 7 rows back either way.

I would get there about 45 min before show time.

I think the Star Wars show is a better spectacle because of the fireworks and lights. It effects your senses more, if that makes any sense. Fantasmic is, in my opinion, essentially a theater show. It's really cool, and worth seeing at least once.

Hands down for us, Star Wars is the better show. We loved F! The first time we saw it about 15 years ago, but it seems to have lost it’s luster for us. Before the SW show there is another new show “The Wonderful World of Animation”. It’s a new projection show About 5-10 minutes before the SW show. Maybe ask your kids?

Personally, if have never seen either, I would do Fantasmic. Just a fun show. Lots going on.
Star Wars is good, but mainly its projection of scenes from the movies on the buildings, some lasers and a few fireworks.
It was ok, but really didn't wow us, and I really like Star Wars.
I would agree, watch both shows on Youtube and decide.

We are not fans of Fantasmic and will be seeing Star Wars fireworks next month.

if we dont rush out of fantasmic, is there a place where the star wars fire works will be visible near fantasmic?
