Fantasmic! Dessert Premium Viewing now costs $60 p/p. If we do this in lieu of dinner (big late lunch) and don't have to spend 2+ to hold a spot, is it worth it? It also gives us a spot for the fireworks.

Yes! Do it! The desserts are yummy (you'll have plenty of leftovers), you get a great SEAT to watch the show, and as you pointed out, who wants to wait a couple of hours on the cold ground to mind a seat?

We did the dessert package in January and loved it. My 8 year old daughter felt like a princess, being so well treated!

The Dobies think it is worth it because we go down every year or two, spend quite a bit, and don't really notice the extra $180. The experience makes the trip special for us.

If we were counting pennies we probably wouldn't do it.

I think it's worth it once, at least. Nice to have a seat and the desserts are really yummy (plan on carrying them back to the hotel with you, you can't eat them all!)

Wow, $60? That's extremely expensive!
But then again, I was very hesitant to spend $16 on a WOC picnic! :)

I do love Fantasmic, but I don't think I would spend $60 for a spot.

did it last year because we had 3 senior citizens in tow (one with a wheelchair). we also did the dinner reservation for WOC.

no way they could stand and see the show or sit on the concrete for 3 or 4 hours.

if you do book the dessert seating, get there early to select your seat and make sure you are not too close to the concrete posts or they will partially block your view.

it is expensive, almost the cost of a day in the park, but try to do it if you can. it is a great way to see the show and the CM's are very good.

That is exactly why we did it. There was no way my mom or dad could deal with standing or sitting on concrete for so long. It was a nice treat; they enjoyed being waited on. But for us, due to pricing, once is enough.

I wish that WoC had something similar because there is no way that they can stand for that long and they are too dang stubborn to rent a buggy!

It has always been $59 for as long as I can remember. Your question implies they recently raised the price. They didn't.

Not sure what you mean by "in lieu of dinner" unless you mean you will save money that way by eating chocolate instead.

Watching fireworks from the Fantasmic area is a poor experience where you miss 80% of the show - especially if it is Remember Dreams Come True. I would recommend dropping the fireworks viewing as a reason for getting Fantasmic reserved viewing.

Finally, is it worth it? Since it sells out in advance every time - often on the day of the reservation window opens - the answer would be "yes".

Is it worth it for you? That depends. Five or six years ago I was mystified why anyone would pay $59 for Fantasmic seats. Now I am in a different place with age of kids and financially and think it is a special thing to do - so we did it last summer. Would we do it again? Yes. Every time? No.

For anyone on a tight budger I would say it is better to take the $59 a person and use that money to buy a longer DLR parkhopper and hotel and stay in the parks and extra day or two. However, some people like to splurge on things and maybe feel like money is not as tight for them. Those people find it worth it every night.

Definately agree!

I did it twice, for the price of one! Why?! Because we went for my birthday and Maleficent (the "real" dragon) didn't work. So, the choice was a refund or new tickets for another showing. So, we chose new tickets for 2 months later and enjoyed it even better. Second showing, it was the screen image

Tips: get a free clear plastic bag from the shops so you can put your dessert tray in. 2 of us couldn't finish one dessert tray. Plus, the dessert tray cover doesn't work well and you could potentially spill the entire tray!

Would I do it again? Maybe, if it were a special occasion. But yes, you do have to get there 2 hours before it's even time to pick seats to stand in line to pick seats....

We did the dessert thing on what is now the balcony at the Dream suite a couple of times before they created this - not as great, but great in its own way,, if it makes sense - do it..

We did it last year with our party of 8 because there were 3 grandparents (2 of them that hadn't seen it since it was brand new and can't stand in lines). It was a absolutely wonderful experience. There is no way that you can eat everything in that container and yet everything was sooooo yummy!!! Thank goodness for my double stroller that could carry the 8 leftovers!! :lmao:

Will we do it again? Our immediate family, probably not. But if the whole family takes another trip maybe. You are made to feel so special and they will cater to your every need!!!

A tank of gas is +/- $60, it will take you a certain distance and most of the time will not leave you with fond memories....

I just did this with a girlfriend on the dis diva trip. I never would spend the $300 for my family, but paying just $60 for me seemed ok. We were both just thrilled with the decision and enjoyed every moment of it. Honestly, the desserts were sort of "eh", but having seats to enjoy that fabulous show and a nice warm drink were priceless. I had seen the show several times before, but still found it worthwhile to have that reserved seat. I say go for it!

...it isn't the dessert box or the spot that makes it worthwhile..it's the CHAIR...I should really make that my signature line as often as I say it.
Like everything else in the world and at Disney, 'worth it' is very relative. To us, when we have little kids with us and really want to have them experience it, the answer is Yes..other times, the answer is No and I just go stand by the raft dock.

Thanks for all these replies...I'm going to Disneyland in April and the booking date for me is this Friday. I've been there 3 times (usually go to WDW) and I've never been able to get close enough in DL to watch it. You've sold me on booking the package this Friday. I already booked the WOC dining package at Ariel's Grotto.

Very good points!:)

May I ask a silly question?

We are going in May,and I am thinking this would be a great thing to do, but when can I book it?

TIA
