Is Fantasmic show really that scary for small kids? I have a 4 year old and a 2 1/2 year old. Should we skip it? I would really like to see it but do not want to scare the kids.
It's very intense and the MGM version has lots of villians (compared with a much fewer number in the DL version). The fireworks are fairly close to you and there's a big dragon that breathes fire. I think it might be too much for small children.
We have seen it every year since my kids were 8 months & 3 1/2. They are now 4 & 7. Thare are also not the bravest kids around(we had to leave ITTBAB). They have never had a problem at Fantasmic. Even when my youngest went through his "afraid of fireworks" phase he still didnt mind Fantasmic. In fact, they both seem to sit mesmerized through it.
On the other hand, my friends daughter was upset that someone was going to hurt her princesses.
I would say if you are concerned, try to sit up the back as it seems a little less intense up there.
I love Fantasmic and we take our 7 and 5 year olds for the last two years. Yet when we talk about our favorite parts, my little one responded that her favorite part is "Closing my eyes!". I guess it is quite scary for little children.
Our 2 yr old did fine through it (he couldnt handle the 3d movies though). He did look away when the fire was going on, but it was so bright I had to look away too. You might want to get a seat mid way to higher up to avoid the heat and spray, especially if it's windy.
