Sorry if I am late to the party, but next year is Fantasmic's 25th anniversary. I can't imagine it being down much into the year because I'm sure they'll do something big to celebrate. Any thoughts?

I hadn't even thought about it! Maybe they could do something special like have it playing every night for the rest of the year (once it opens). I think that would be awesome. I know someone will say "They can't do fireworks everynight of the year, but that didn't stop them during the 60th. I think it's them cutting expenses and making more money. C'mon, Disneyland - if WDW Hollywood Studios can do it every night, so can you.

Oooooh fun!! I hope they open it earlier than expected. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Fantasmic.

There were/are rumors that when it re-opens they may have tweaked/updated the show. Disney has not given any estimated re-opening dates, but I've seen rumored dates of anywhere from spring to early summer. According to Wikipedia, the show debuted in May of 1992, so as long as they re-open in time for summer, they could still "celebrate" the shows 25th anniversary. I think it would be nice if they updated the show.

Not doing fireworks nightly (which is a different issue from nightly presentations of Fantasmic!) had to do with an agreement with the City of Anaheim. I'm sure they had to work some type of deal with the City of Anaheim to present the fireworks nightly during the 60th. Whether they'll extend the deal is unknown (it's not just Disney that would have to want to...the City would also have to agreeable to the idea and not all residents like having nightly fireworks).

Regarding F!, nightly presentations would be popular, I do also like being able to ride the Mark Twain at night, which cannot be done on nights when F! is presented. So in that way, it's nice that F! is not presented nightly year around.

Oh I REALLY hope that they re-open sometime next year! We are getting APs for the first time this December and I would love to be able to see Fantasmic sometime within the year. It's by far my favorite show! It would be great if they did something special for the anniversary.

I don't think cost was as issue. My family knows one of the pyro guys and because of the quantity disneyland buys fireworks they are getting them at close to nothing over production cost.

Cost is defiantly NOT the issue. One of Disney's largest metrics on cost/value of everything they do in the parks is the number of guests experiences per dollar spent. The fireworks show is by far the largest guests experience per dollar spent of any attraction or show since so many people get to view it and it is continually rated one of the highlights of guest trips on surveys.

There are weather issues due to the winds. If the winds at altitude are too high, they will cancel the fireworks. I had friends there for the 60th and they were not able to run the pyrotechnics due to the winds. They were very disappointed. Remember DLR is in a residential area. Disney doesn't want to burn anyone's house down. There are enough problems with fire dangers in California.

But with Fantasmic!, the fireworks stay very low and in the parks. You've seen them - they sorta just shoot over Mickey's head on the island. I get that the Santa Ana winds are bad for the main castle fireworks, but those are being launched hundreds of feet in the air. F! has very low effects that shouldn't affect residential areas. Further, the effects also do not have the same loud report that the Forever show has, so sound shouldn't be an issue either. In fact, I remember on our last trip being in the Central Hub near Tomorrowland, being able to see the F! fireworks just above the tree but not hearing them - not like you can hear Forever from miles away. Just watch a youtube video of it - you can barely hear the fireworks.

I just think that this is a show that could happen every night of the year. If DL attracts over 18 million a year and WDW's Hollywood Studios brings in 10 million (2015), it seems strange to me that DL can't do this nightly. But I also realize that this isn't World of Color which has no CMs to pay to dance around on the stage and the boats. F! takes more money to run and I think that's why they only do it on the weekends. It sure would be nice to show up on a Monday or Thursday in February or September and know I'll get a great show to end the day at DL.

I think the practice of F! only on the weekends is a relic of the old days when there was actually an off season. But with F! dinner packages now being offered I can certainly see them increasing the number of shows per week.

I just hope they don't change to much if they do. I heard somewhere they were thinking of adding frozen to F!, but it was met with so many NOs tha they backed away from the idea.
