DAY 1
We had the usual night of a couple of wake-ups but we finally awoke properly around 6ish and got up and got ready, we took our luggage out to the car and then hit the road…. I then had a small panic about how the auto tolls worked again so a quick question to some forums to put my mind at rest and we were on our way. Miami has the Autotolls but we were with Alamo and once you go through one you are automatically put into the weekly charge rate and the tolls and rate are then charged to your credit card.
The drive from Miami to Orlando is pretty unadventerous. We were looking forward to breakfast but we decided to hold out until we came across the first rest stop that had an Earl of Sandwich.

Ohhhh yeah that is an interesting experience of visiting the rest stops and not looking like a tourist ha-ha. Still it was worth it for the Earl of Sandwich, I had the Tuna Melt and Cinderfella the BBQ chicken, weird breakfast food I know but we couldn’t resist and it was soo tasty!

Then it was on with our journey, again I cannot express how brilliant it is to have Co-pilot on the iPhone and not to have to worry about charges for this, I had just got the iPhone 4S so we used that for the Sat Nav and then I had my old iPhone that I had got a US sim card sent to me with data plan. This meant I could chat away with my friends who were all arriving in Disney that day whilst Cinderfella concentrated on the road. We came off the route too early though and ended up on the 192 for way too long we should have left it an exit but we know for next time.
Finally arrived in WDW and at The Beach Club around midday, so it took us just over 4 hours including a stop and I thought that was pretty good and Cinderfellal, unlike me, is pretty anal about the speed limit in the States.

I’d scored a great Annual Passholder rate for our first 6 nights at Beach Club so we were met at the bell stand and taken up to the 5th floor by a Cast Member. Both check-in desks had guests so we were asked to take a seat in the Concierge lounge and given a drink whilst we waited, no problem. Not 5 minutes after we were checking-in but our room wasn’t ready which was fine, we check-in I gave my cell number for the Room Ready Text and we headed to Beaches and Cream because well it would be rude not to!
Beaches and Cream, it’s a favourite of ours and we do eat here way too much when we are staying within the Y&B but the burgers are good, fresh and juicy. I love the onion rings too but I just went with a burger and fries, which was very restrained of me!

We polished off lunch and whilst we were eating we got the message that our room was ready sooo back off to see where they had put us.
Well basically it was a walk from the elevators literally the end of the Beach Club BUT the good thing about that was our room had double aspect. I had requested a King room and asked for a balcony but I knew this couldn’t be guaranteed. We only got a half balcony BUT the room was HUGE. You almost needed a taxi from the foot of the bed to the TV!!

We looked over Stormalong Bay which wasn’t as noisy as I was expecting and turned out to give us some entertainment throughout our stay.

We unpacked and then took a nap because the bed was just so comfy and inviting. Woke up to find that the room was pretty cold so Cinderfella played with A/C but nothing happened so we just turned it off. It was time to get ready for dinner.
We arranged to meet our friends Carol and Chuck in Martha’s Vineyard which was going through some sort of refurb. I checked us in at Cape May Café on the way to the bar because it’s usually a wait. Got to the bar, ordered a nice pomegranate martini (why are these all the rage at the moment in the States?!) which was very nice and then the buzzer went off so I sent Cinderfella back to the podium to ensure that we didn’t lose the table because the barman was slow and we needed to pay for our drinks oh and we had Disney Dining Experience Card so you have to wait for a Manager to come authorise the discount, this irks me no end with this card
We were seated in a booth at Cape May Café. This place is a bit of a tradition for Sammy and Cinderfella so Carol and Chuck have to suck it up because we like to eat here on our first night if we are staying in the vicinity of this Clam Bake Buffet!
The Boys

The Chicks - we hadn't seen each other in a year I think

Sadly it was not a battered fish night which is a shame but we still made light work of the buffet arghhh but I was so busy gassing that I didn’t take shots of the buffet
I remembered to take piccies of some of the desserts which are little bites and pretty scrummy, all the food was fresh and hit the spot. Lots of variety.
Oreo Bon Bons

Mini Strawberry Cheesecake

Mini Key Lime pie

By now Cinderfella and I were pretty knackered, we’re always like this on our second night, so we headed back to the room and Chuck and Carol got wrapped up for their walk back round the lake to the Boardwalk Inn. It was a particularly cold night and we all hoped that the weather would warm up.
We arranged to meet in the BC lobby in the morning so I could drive us all to breakfast.
Got back to our room and it was still Arctic….. clearly the A/C/Heating was broken so we switched it off for the night.
