Day 10

After our late night we had a little lie in before we headed out for the day. Breakfast was at Perkins at Crossroads which was yummy and cheap.

The great thing about being in Florida during the “Fall” is Perkins Pumpkin Pie, which goes down nicely with Perkins Coffee which I actually like!

Then I drove us over to Gatorland, we were early as it didn’t open until 10am. Cinderfella had never done Gatorland and it had been years since I had been there but the place didn’t look that much different from the outside so the obligatory Gatorland photos were taken.

Gatorland is the sort of park that you can do in less than a day and they do ensure that the showtimes don’t conflict so that you get to see a lot of the park without having to make hard choices.

We managed to see the Gator Jumparoo Show

Walk around to see more gators and crocs too

We head up the Observation Tower

We then take a walk round the Swamp – please note I am lathered up in Deet before I came to Gatorland LOL although there’s not much at the swamp but the exercise was good and I imagine that this is what WDW looked like before discovery by Walt.

Finally it was time for the Gator Wrestling Show… I can’t help but think that we were a little wrong to be trying Gator bites whilst watching the Gators ahhhh well

The staff here I thought did a bang up job of entertaining us and they certainly live life on the edge.

Brilliant way to spend the morning.

We then headed back to the room to change as we were going into Epcot for a late lunch at Akershus. Obligatroy photos by International Gateway LOL

Cinderfella had never eaten here and I had only done breakfast so we were trying lunch. It was a long queue just to check-in then we had to hang out in the sun and wait to be called so we couldn’t stray too far away – I’d say about a 20 minute after we were in line to check in we were finally having our photo taken with Belle

The appetizer bar is phenomenal here, lots of seafood and salad, with cheeses and cold meats… my idea of heaven but I needed to save room for the entrees.

Cinderfella went for the salmon cake which came with soup

I had the meatballs – yum!

Characters came – Cinderfella chatted Mary Poppins up and just got to hang with Beauty, Cinderella and Snow

Dessert was sublime – you get a platter of 3 delivered to your table but you can order more if you want

With our Tables in Wonderland this meal came to $75.00 and we thought it was excellent value – we both decided to come back on the next trip and try dinner as they serve different entrees.

After lunch we headed back through World Showcase back to the room and then decided to hit the outlets at Vineland where I shopped at Vera… that’ll be Bradley not Wang LOL and other exciting places.

It was late now and so we decided to try MNF at Giordanos and we were not disappointed. We just shared a small because we only wanted a snack. The place was a little dead but it was past 8pm.

Then we just headed back as we were shattered from the late night we'd had the night before so it was time for bed !

Looks like you had a great day Sam:thumbsup2

In all the years we've been going to Florida we've never made it to Gatorland, would you recommend it as something "different" worth doing????:confused3

The last time I had done it was back in 1996 when a 2 week holiday to Florida was just that with fewer theme parks than now so it was a pleasant surprise when I went back 15 years later!

It's the sort of place you could do on your departure day, to my mind it did only take up a morning but if you do the Zipline Tour as well, for the adventurous, you could string it out... personally I could have done with just going back to the hotel and lying by the pool for the afternoon but we were pretty busy on this trip so we had little downtime.

Gatorland reminds me of what "old" Florida was like before the Big Guns came in.... I liked it but it's probably a once every 5 years kinda place for me :)

Looks like a fun day indeed! Very brave people to put their faces that close to the gators... lol.

I love Akershus. You got Mary Poppins, thats so cool. We had Ariel instead when we went. The food there's nice too, we have the same kind of heaven lol.

Can't say i'll ever want to go to gatorland!

Yummy looking food.
