In September, they made me remove my fanny pack to ride Rip Ride Rockit. We couldn't have any phones in our pockets or anything. Anyone else experience this? It's the first time I haven't been allowed to have my fanny pack on a ride.

damo, it was same for us this year, had to remove them and put in a locker.

Previous years we were ok to keep them on, as long as harness locked it was fine.

We did see one guy kick off big time as he was told to put his phone in a locker.....it was sticking out of his side pocket so would have come out.....but he was adamant he wasn't going to do it.......Thankfully staff absolutely wouldn't let him on till he took it lockers.

Eventually he did as he had no choice, but he was a jerk about it. I really don't think he saw what could happen if it fell out and hit someone. But yes, staff were being very thorough about anything loose on people.

I had read on Orlando United the beginning of September that Rip Ride Rocket had went to a zero loose article policy. No fanny packs, no phones in pockets, no nothing. Supposedly it's a new directive from the manufacturer Maurer. According to Screamscape, a man with an external insulin pump was denied board because it is on a new list of 20 external medical devices deemed "loose articles".

My DF had a pen in his pocket and they made him put it in a locker. It really is for everyone's safety, Rocket tends to empty pockets, so its best if you empty them first.

That I understand. The fanny pack no longer being allowed is what I'm not quite understanding.

I guess just added precaution. I think most fanny packs have those interlocking clips, I can't imagine they would accidentally breakaway, so my thought here would be the concern that someone might take their phone out once on the ride. :confused3

P.S. Love the doggie pic, corgi right?

Yep - Cardigan Corgi. :goodvibes

I suppose it is just an added precaution. Or maybe it makes it easier to just say you can't have anything at all on you.

Probably. I guess they can also argue that the restraints are different and require that nothing be around your waist.

There are no rules for normal glasses, so probably no rules against sunglasses.

Good to know. At most coaster parks they check you for straps or tethers for sunglasses on the more aggressive rides. Otherwise your shades are a "loose article" and you can't ride with them. For example, the three Intamin coasters at Hersheypark.
