Fanny packs and rides?

I don't like backpacks, so I usually take a fanny pack and a small camera bag with me at Disney. A friend who's just returned from US/IOA said she was required to check her fanny pack before riding some of the rides. I wanted to check with all of you about this, because if that's true, it might make more sense to take a backpack instead.

Can I take and keep a fanny pack with me? If not, what do you bring with you to the parks? Backpack? Shoulder bag? Fanny pack anyway?

Fanny packs are OK as long they don't impede the restraints in any way. Most people don't have any issues.

I'm not quite sure why she would have had any issues unless she was wearing the bag on her stomach. If you turn it to the side where the restraints won't come down on it and it's not hurting the way you sit.

But, depending on who is working and such it can always be different

I've never once had an issue in the many years I have been going. Just make sure your fanny pack is small and only carries your necessities. Also follow instructions above and make sure that it isn't going to obstruct the restraints.

Ditching the backpacks and using fanny packs only may have been the best tip I read on these boards for Universal. We had pretty regular size fanny packs and were able to wear them on every ride - we often had to hike them up a little and to the side to get the restraint on comfortably but it wasn't a problem. The only thing I can think of is maybe it was a very large one? They make some big camera equipment fanny packs.

My wife used to use a small fanny pack, but now she uses my cargo shorts or sometime hers.

maybe it's just the young'in in me... but everytime I read the word fanny pack I laugh. quite a bit. Then again it's orlando, when are you ever going to see these people again?

I tell my wife this when she asks about something she wants to do or wear. You are not going to see any of these people again (unless you meet some fellow DIS'ers), besides its vacation, have fun.

Ive just gotten warmed up to the whole Teva or Chacos shoes. I'll stick to my kavu or VB style hipsters for now. We have to get a locker for our cups anyways.

Being an avid hiker, I choose whatever gets the job done and weighs me down the least. If a fanny pack is all I need, that's all I wear. Doesn't matter to me if it looks silly to someone else if it's getting the job done.

Speaking of hiking... I just saw a guy with a solar panel bookbag walking around campus. Said it powers his gps and something else for up to 3 months without charging. crazy

Thats very different. I hope that its comfortable walking around the parks all day
