Sorry for the delay, life getting in the way and all that, but I'm back
We were up today at a not bad time considering the time we went to bed, but we are up and at them, and have some good strong coffee to bring us around, before heading down to the Artist Pallette to pick up the Everest Picture we had purchased, we also wanted to pick up a schedule of what was happening at the resort for New Years Eve.
We push our luck and dont leave for Epcot until about 12.00, on the way to the park there are signs up to say that the Magic Kingdom is closed to capacity
We are in luck and Epcot is still letting people in, we hear later that MGM also closed.
We meet Jo (Wils) and her lovely family at 2.00 at The Rose and Crown, and over a glass of wine we have a lovely chat, it was great to meet them, Jo is such a lovely person, little Declan was very unimpressed though and slept through our little meet.
We say our goodbyes, and Ian and I get another drink (it is New Years Eve), we also get to give Tanya the Cardiff hat as we had promised we would do.
We met lots of lovely people that afternoon, everyone seemed to be really chilled and taking lots of alcohol onboard. We had a 5.30pm reservation at Nine Dragon, and as it was time to head over there the heavens opened and we had to shelter for a good quarter of an hour making us late for our ressie, but we still managed to get a table ok. This was our first time to eat here and probably our last
we both got the Sha Cha Beef Skewers to start followed by Sichuan Kung Bao Chicken for me and General Tsos Chicken for Ian, dessert was ginger ice cream, nothing was especially good, dont get me wrong it wasnt bad, you could eat it, it was just nothing special, the Kingfisher beer was nice and cold though
We wanted to be at The Rose and Crown for 7.00 (our New Year) so we headed back across picking up our hats and party blowers on the way, it was mental all you cold hear was whhooooo people blowing their blowers everywhere, we grabbed a drink from the bar, and headed to the smoking are where a sweet Korean man asked me if I had a bonfire, I was totally confused, turned out he wanted a light for his ciggie, so funny a lighter will always be a bonfire to us now. We had been talking to some British people earlier in the afternoon and they showed back up, they had been thrown out of the Rose and Crown, apparently they had been told that their children would have to leave the pub at 6.00pm and they went nuts, saying it was a British Pub and they were British and would not take the children out, it ended up with security being called and they were told if they did not leave the pub, they would be escorted to the front of the park, and banned from all Disney parks, they were pretty lairy about it all to be honest, so we quickly said our goodbyes.
We ended up spending the British New Year with a group from South Carolina, they were brilliant, so much fun, and they seemed to love spending our New Year with us, here we all are, they were lovely people.
We left Epcot after several more vinos at about 9.00 as we wanted to go to the pool party at Saratoga, it was heaving trying to get out of there, I have never seen so many people, I managed to squeeze myself in to join in with the Cha Cha Slide that was taking place by the fountains though.
We got chatting with some Londeners on the bus, they were trying to get to Raglan Road, they had no idea where they were going, or how they were going to get back to International Drive, they just wanted to get to Raglan Road for the New Year as one of their daughters friends was dancing there, they got off the bus at Congress Park with them, and we walked part of the way with them, pointing them in the right direction, I pointed out that our room was the one with the red bows on it, in case they needed a bed later, I dont know what I would have done of they had showed up, me and my chatter when I have had a drink
We changed our clothes, we were still slightly soggy from the run to Nine Dragons and headed off to The Congress Park pool, there was a DJ and the area was quite full, we took part in the quiz, and did badly, and sat with a beer soaking our feet in the hot tub, it was mad to think that I was at Saratoga soaking my feet on New Years Eve.
We went back to the room at about 11.40 grabbed a drink and went out on the balcony where we had a perfect view of the Pleasure Island Fireworks, these were accompanied to Let It Be, and were absolutely stunning, I had a good old cry
, people had been carrying benches from around the resort to the path below our balcony just so they could sit and watch, they were all very good though and carried the benches away with them when they left, so I assume they were taking them back to where they got them from.
It was a fabulous day, finished off by the turkey sandwiches we had picked up at Artist Pallette earlier in the day. We will definately go back to Epcot for New Years Eve this year, but this year we inted to stay through till midnight for Illuminations, I have been thrown the challenge of getting a table at Le Cellier - Thanks Ian !!!
