I was wondering if any of you could lend your resort expertise to my cousin...she is coming down to Disney World with her husband and 4 young children (boy-2 years old, boy-7 years old, girl-9 years old, boy-11 years old) for my fairy tale wedding in November. She's not sure what the best place to stay is with so many people. If she booked the All-Stars, she would need 2 rooms, but they aren't able to guarantee that they would be connecting rooms, so that is a bad thing. Money is slightly tight, so they don't want to stay at a deluxe either. The youngest boy has special needs, so I imagine he will need to be in a crib. Where would you guys recommend (either on-site or off-site)? We're thinking some sort of suite would be necessary, but we're just not sure. Thanks!!

I'm a single parent of 4 children and my options were as follows:

- POR - can get room with trundle bed (only moderate offering room for 5)

- AKL -

-WL -

-don't necessarily rule out deluxes for price reasons. We just got a great code and the CR was 166/night. That's over $100 off rack rate and so easy transporation wise with lots of children.

Also, offsite options include Holiday Inn Family Suites Resort. We stayed there a few years ago and had a kids suite for 140/nt. It's greatest feature is that kids eat free (up to 4 per adult!!!) EVERY meal as long as an adult purchases something (I used to get chef's salad and the whole family got to eat for under $12!!). If you really want to save, this place is the key.

Hope this helps!!

FORGOT ABOUT FW Cabins!!!

We stayed there too and my kids so loved the campfires at night that they said they wanted to stay in the resort all day. We did one day at MK and then they wanted the cabin for the next 9!!

Funny kids!! They did the same thing to me at Holiday Inn Family Suites, they gave up Sea World so they could stay for 2 more nights at Suites. Suites also had family bingo every night, then Kareoke and free face painting every night. It was terrific!!

I would recommend two rooms at a value. They will guarantee connecting rooms when there are more than two minor children. We have done this many times with our four kids.

FW cabins are great too. The kitchen could save them a little money and the campgrounds are great, but it will take them a little extra time to get around because you have to take an internal bus to get to the main bus/boat transportation.

Ditto for the cabins at Fort Wilderness. 1 double bed and 2 twin bunks in the bedroom. Mom and Dad can sleep on a comfortable Murphy bed in the living room. Only drawback is 1 bathroom. Other option would be to rent points on the DVC board for a 2BR, if they want to stay onsite. More options off-site, too.

I would recommend two rooms at Pop Century-they will guarantee connecting rooms. You will have more storage, two bathrooms, two tv's, four double beds, two tables, four chairs, and lots of room. The resorts do have cribs. Bus service is very quick and convenient. Best of all, it's onsite!!!!

this seems to have come up quite a bit lately. someone on another thread said the only way they will guarantee connecting rooms is if there is only one adult with the group. don't know this first hand, but it was well debated and this was the determined "correct answer"! lol. anyway, i would go for the cabins. true they only have one bathroom, but they do have a sink/vanity in the bedroom, plus another sink in the kitchen. in my family the kids get showered at night anyway, so this wouldn't be such an issue for us. plus the kitchen would be such a huge plus, as would the deck. it's so nice to have somewhere outside to sit!! and all the activities they offer would be great, especially if money is tight and park time might be limited.

good luck helping your cousin decide!

We stayed in a Ft. Wilderness cabin in January with 4 children (ages 17, 13, 6 and 4). It was great. I really recommend it. It was roomy for all of us.

We are DVC members so our first choice would be a villa. Its so nice to spread out a bit, have a kitchen and washer/dryer. You can also rent points if your not a DVC member.
We have also stayed at the Poly, CR and YC--all of which had the 2 queen beds and a daybed. All the rooms were roomy enough for us.
Most of the resorts will guarantee connecting rooms if you have little ones staying in the connecting room.

I too vote for the DVC villa. What about renting points from a member, that would make the price afordable. The key there is what nights you would need as weekends need more points.

I vote for DVC villas too. Look on the rent trade board. It is about 10.00 a point. They can be very cheap that way. November is one of the lower point times so it may be economical.
