We are in the very early stages in thinking of planning a family trip in Jan 2003 for our family of four (DD ages 10 and 6 then) and my parents coming the last few days of trip. I was thinking of cheaping out the first few nights (ASM?) and then splurging on a suite once grandparents join us. Any suggestions??

Also, is there a place to read exactly what concierge is and what comes with the cost and what services cost extra?

Is this vaule season, even over Martin Luther King day?

TIA

All of January is included in Disney's value season, even the MLK Holiday.

If you are going to splurge for a suite, I'd recommend a 2 bedroom at OKW or one of the other HAFH resorts. OKW has the largest rooms of the DVC resorts and would be very nice for relaxing after a day in the parks.

I'm sure the others will have other ideas for you.

Can't help with conceirge info as I could never bring myself to spend the extra $$.

I would definitely do a 2 bedroom villa at one of the home away from home's or a grand villa. They are going to be much more affordable. But, if you can afford a big suite then go for it! ;) I've heard wondeful things about the suites at GF, AKL, Poly, YC and the BWI. Actually, all the deluxe resorts offer suites. Most run between $700-$2,000 per night, and all come with concierge service. :D Browse through the FAQ's here on the resort board, or head over to http://www.wdwig.com for more info. :D

I hope this helps a little. I just did the same thing. My family of 3 went to Disney in Dec and my grandparents flew in for the last 5 days. I was going to upgrade myself and stay at a deluxe resort when they arrived but found it to be cheaper and more practical to stay at one of the AS resorts that way everyone got their own room and their own bathroom.

We did this for MLK week in Jan 2002. My family of 4 stayed at the Contemp tower for 3 nights ....then we met up with the grandparents at the WL for 4 nights. We did the connecting rooms ...w/ a code it was very affordable & everyone had their own bathroom. We gave then their 4 nights as a Christmas gift. We are going again Jan 2003, but I don't think we are inviting the grandparents this time - we can't afford to treat them every year :(
